On the morning of May 24, the French Architectural Heritage photo exhibition opened at Lam Son Park (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
The activity is implemented by the Department of Culture and Sports of Hai Phong City in coordination with the French-Vietnamese Academy of Architecture and the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City.
Photo exhibition of French architectural heritage ( Hai Phong - French Heritage) has the theme "Architectural heritage today, prosperity for tomorrow".
This exhibition displays hundreds of photos of architectural works and some planning maps of Hai Phong city through the periods (1874, 1885, 1926...); the expansion, development of the city and the city planning to 2040, vision to 2050.
Especially images of valuable architectural works in Hai Phong City: Hai Phong City People's Committee, Hai Phong Post Office, Hai Phong City Theater...;
Images of public spaces (streets, squares...); the city's new political and administrative center; architectural works of typical value; images of the world natural heritage of Cat Ba archipelago...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Hai Phong city - said this is a meaningful event to celebrate the 51st anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 11th anniversary of establishing the Vietnam - France Strategic Partnership.
"With more than 300 villas, of which more than 100 architectural works in the center of Hai Phong city are still almost intact, preserved and promoted in use. These are typical works reflecting the intersection of two cultures, France and Vietnam in Hai Phong.
After more than 100 years, these works are still in use and have become valuable cultural heritages, with high aesthetics, creating a unique and unmistakable appearance; contributing to creating an urban appearance of Hai Phong that is both ancient and modern" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung emphasized.
Through this photo exhibition, the organizers hope to provide more information and documents so that people can better understand Hai Phong's planning through the ages, and the conservation of valuable architectural works in Hai Phong, including French architectural works in the city center.
The French Architectural Heritage Photo Exhibition will take place until May 29 at Lam Son Park (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
