Deeply felt emotions from 5 different locations across the country.

The televised event "Under the Banner of Victory" is a large-scale program involving approximately 1,000 professional and amateur performers participating directly at 5 different locations.

The program features many famous artists such as Trong Tan, Dang Duong, Viet Hoan, Pham Thu Ha, Dao To Loan, Vo Ha Tram, Duc Tuan, Y Garia, Ro Cham Peng, Oplus group, Anh Bang, Bencanto…

With a running time of over 110 minutes, the program transported viewers back to the glorious years, evoking unforgettable memories of a time of bombs and bullets. Important milestones from 70 years ago were presented through a blend of present experiences and reminiscence, combining art with analysis and evaluation.

Opening the program, the timeless song "Uncle Ho Still Marches with Us" was simultaneously played at all five locations, evoking a sense of pride in the audience. The image of President Ho Chi Minh - the beloved Father of the Nation - seemed to be present all around.

Dien Bien Bridge

The stirring verses from the poem "Hail to the Dien Bien Phu Soldiers" by poet To Huu, performed by singer Phuc Tiep and a male vocal group, brought the audience back to the heroic atmosphere of the unforgettable 56 days and nights of the historic Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

Ho Chi Minh City location

At the foot of the Thu Ngu Flagpole in Ho Chi Minh City on September 23, 1945, when a British army company arrived to take down the red flag with a yellow star, a small self-defense squad of our soldiers bravely fought, fiercely resisting to the last man. Their unwavering spirit strongly inspired the struggle of the army and people of Southern Vietnam during the resistance war.

The performance of Southern Vietnamese resistance art partly recreated the strong fighting atmosphere of the people of Southern Vietnam at that time. The performance was presented by artist Duc Tuan and a mixed male and female choir.

Hanoi location

Artist Lan Anh, the Belcanto group, and dozens of artists from both Hanoi and Dien Bien brought the atmosphere of Hanoi in 1946 to the present through the song "People of Hanoi" .

Thanh Hoa branch

The Thanh Hoa segment continued with a performance of "Binh Tri Thien in the Flames of War ," performed by artist Dao To Loan and a group of 30 male and female singers. Following their defeat in the Autumn-Winter of 1947, the French army concentrated its forces on a fierce sweep operation in Binh Tri Thien. In early 1948, they continuously launched raids in Vinh Linh, Trieu Phong, and Hai Lang, causing massacres. Composer Nguyen Van Thuong, who was then working in Nghe An, wrote this song.

Alongside the performance from Thanh Hoa, the show also featured dancers from Kon Tum.

Kon Tum Bridge Point

The performance of "Indomitable Central Highlands " (by composer Văn Ký), presented by artists Rơ Chăm Phiang and Y Garia, depicted a Central Highlands region with heroic, indomitable, and defiant people who broke free from shackles and rose up to liberate the country.

At the program, in addition to enjoying artistic performances featuring timeless songs, the audience also watched documentaries and documentary footage about the "glorious victory that shook the world" that took place exactly 70 years ago.

The movements for peace and resistance against conscription, as well as the ambushes and sabotage attacks on enemy airfields, fuel depots, forts, and ships by the people of Southern Vietnam, were vividly recreated.

The stories of the civilian laborers and volunteer youth during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign were also recounted in the televised program. Despite the hardships and difficulties, these young people never stopped transporting food to the battlefield.

The story of the trench system during the Dien Bien Phu campaign was recreated in the documentary "Tightening the Encirclement of Fire." Questions such as: How did the French consolidate their forces? With such a strong and well-trained defense, what did we do?... were also answered.

In addition, the audience had the opportunity to meet and interact with historical witnesses, including veteran Tran Khoi - former Political Commissar and Party Secretary of the 101st Cart Company.

Veteran Tran Khoi was the former Political Commissar and Party Secretary of the 101st Cart Company. He and his comrades set out from Thanh Hoa to transport food supplies to the Dien Bien Phu battlefield. After 70 years, his memories of the battlefield remain vivid. He also keeps his old battlefield mementos in his home as precious treasures.

Compared to Thanh Hoa, which had civilian laborers supporting the front lines, and Kon Tum, which provided fire support to Dien Bien Phu, the story of the military medical logistics of Hanoi will be explored in greater depth. Questions such as: How did Hanoi's medical students leave for the battlefield that year? What were the unique initiatives of the frontline doctors from Hanoi who contributed to the Dien Bien Phu battlefield?... were answered in the program through conversations with Major General Nguyen Tu - former Deputy Director of the Military Medical Academy, and Mr. Le Van Sam - a liaison soldier of Professor Ton That Tung at the Dien Bien Phu front.

During the escalating campaign, wounded soldiers suffered severe injuries, especially head injuries, beyond the capabilities of military medicine. Therefore, the forces requested assistance from leading professors and doctors. Professor Ton That Tung visited and decided to stay, both personally treating the soldiers and guiding his colleagues in their work.

A special meeting between two generations.

The televised program continues with a return to the Dien Bien Phu broadcast point, at the D1 (Dominique 2) stronghold historical site, the highest point on the eastern hill range of the central sector of the Dien Bien Phu fortified complex. This was also the battleground of Battalion 166, Regiment 209, Division 312.

Notably, the two daughters of martyr Nguyen Thien Thuat – one of the soldiers who fought at Dominique 2 (D1) – were also present at the program. The two sisters, Nguyen Thi Oanh and Nguyen Thi Kim, had the opportunity to meet veterans from the 312th Division with their father, including Mr. Nguyen Huu Chap, Mr. Vu Dinh Oi, and Mr. Bui Kim Dieu.

Furthermore, the team prepared another special gift for the two daughters of martyr Nguyen Thien Thuat. It was a portrait of the martyr created by combining images of their parents and children. The program hopes to fulfill, to some extent, the daughters' dream of reuniting with their father, as the family has been searching for Nguyen Thien Thuat's grave for many years without success.

The televised program "Under the Banner of Victory" concluded with images of awarding commemorative medals to veterans, former youth volunteers, and civilian workers on the front lines at five different locations. For the past 70 years, the banner of victory has guided our army and people through wars of resistance to gain independence and freedom, gathering strength and willpower to renew and build the country. And the banner of decisive victory will forever remain a symbol of the will and aspiration for a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

The televised program "Under the Banner of Victory" aims to convey the message that the Dien Bien Phu victory was a shared achievement of the entire nation, forged by the nation's yearning for independence and freedom.

For nearly nine years, we poured our efforts into achieving the Dien Bien Phu Victory, but it wasn't just a victory at Dien Bien Phu alone; the whole country contributed to this collective success.
