"Giving wings" to the new generation of humanists
This is not only the first meeting of thousands of new students across the entire university, but also a special milestone marking the beginning of their journey of knowledge and youthful aspirations.
Professor Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, the school's principal, emphasized: "Today's event is a commitment to partnership. The school will equip students with the knowledge, skills, and methodologies to confidently enter the labor market."
A new development this year is that the school surveyed 61% of new students before the start of the academic year. The results revealed several noteworthy figures: 78% of new students are female, and the proportion of male students has increased compared to previous cohorts.

Students come from 31 out of 34 provinces and cities, with Ho Chi Minh City accounting for 30%; 90% of students aspire to self-development, and 89% choose the Faculty of Humanities for its quality of education and learning environment.
The biggest concerns for students are career opportunities after graduation, effective study methods, and student life.
The Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities believes that each new student entering university needs to prepare with two mindsets simultaneously: proactively choosing a career and being ready to accept it when "the career chooses them."
According to Ms. Lan, to achieve this proactive approach, students should not only focus on studying their chosen major but also accumulate interdisciplinary knowledge, hone soft skills, and develop problem-solving thinking.
She emphasized that today's generation of students has a more practical approach, always eager to prove themselves and concerned about the knowledge related to their future careers. Therefore, the school not only guides students towards specific fields of study but also creates conditions and encourages them to broaden their knowledge, improve their skills and adaptability to be ready for various career opportunities.

In the first year after graduation, nearly 89% of humanities students found employment, with 75% working in fields related to or directly connected to their majors. According to the principal, this figure is clear evidence of the university's efforts to improve the quality of education and its commitment to supporting graduates.
Journey of Aspiration
During the program, the speech by Nguyen Hieu Nhan, the top-scoring student in the entrance exam based on competency assessment, was very moving.
Originally from Gia Lai (formerly Binh Dinh), Nhan initially had no foundation in English but through self-study and persistent effort, he achieved an IELTS score of 8.0 twice.
For me, failure is not the end, but a motivation to grow every day. Therefore, I hope that when students face challenges, they will always be resilient, find ways to overcome them, and never give up on their unfinished dreams.
Nguyen Hieu Nhan - the top-scoring student in the entrance exam based on the aptitude test at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

For Nhân, the title of valedictorian is not the ultimate goal, but rather a reminder of the importance of striving, humility, and perseverance.
This is the result of a long journey of hard work, and it also motivates Nhân to strive even harder in the future.

Another story that also spreads the spirit of "giving wings" is that of Ly Truong Ngoc, a Nung ethnic minority student majoring in Cultural Studies. Ngoc was born into a farming family in the mountainous area of Song Luy commune (formerly Binh Thuan province, now Lam Dong province).
Ngoc once took a year off from school due to financial difficulties. But afterwards, thanks to her determination and pursuit of her passion, she overcame this obstacle and her parents' worries to attend the Faculty of Humanities.
Ngoc chose Cultural Studies with the desire to integrate national identity into art. "I am inspired by how singer Phuong My Chi incorporates culture into her music. I want to study Cultural Studies to preserve traditions while also creating something new for the present," Ngoc said.
