During his training, Mr. Stirling tried to do about 3,200 push-ups in 1 hour and did it. However, it was just a practice and there was no representative of Guinness World Records to witness so it could not be recognized.
After completing the preparation, he officially conquered the goal witnessed by many people, including representatives of the Guinness World Records Organization.
To achieve this difficult goal, Mr. Stirling had to have the right strategy. He would not do too many push-ups per set because that would tire his muscles too quickly. Instead, he would only do about 12 push-ups at a time.
"My strategy for getting the most push-ups in an hour is to do short sets. I do 12 push-ups per set, then I stand up and rest for about seven seconds before doing another 12. And I do that for an hour," Stirling said.
Mr Stirling did not need to count his push-ups as two cameras were mounted at different angles to record them. The man shared that the effort was both a physical and mental challenge.
After an hour, Mr. Stirling not only broke the Guinness World Record but also surpassed his own goal. After completing the final set, he had done 3,264 push-ups.
Now, Mr Stirling has set a goal for his next record: 144 push-ups in one minute.
The previous record for most push-ups in one hour was set by Daniel Scali of Australia in April 2022. Scali did 3,182 push-ups per hour, according to UPI.
