Speaking ahead of the Conference League final, Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini said: "Antony wants revenge. At Betis, I think he has found it. Antony has shown his ability, because it is not easy to play as a player with a €100m tag. It is clear that Antony is a very good player. I believe this is an important moment for him to develop his career."

Since joining Betis in January, Antony has scored five goals in just 17 La Liga games, quickly equalling the tally he achieved in two and a half years in the Premier League. The Brazilian forward has also contributed four goals in Betis' journey to the UEFA Conference League final. The La Liga club prepare for the final against Chelsea on the morning of May 29.

On May 27, Antony also had an emotional interview with TNT Sports. He could not hold back his tears when recounting his terrible time at MU.

“I no longer felt joy in competing. I once told my brother: ‘I can’t take it anymore’. His words of encouragement were my last ray of hope during that period,” Antony recalled, choking up.

Antony's future after the final remains a big question mark. Betis want to keep the player for another season, but cannot pay the £40m buyout fee demanded by United.

Betis are aiming for a historic European title. The club won La Liga in 1934/35 and has won three Copa del Reys, most recently in 2022.
