The U23 Vietnam team will play against the U23 Philippines in the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Football Championship, taking place at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (July 25). At the pre-match press conference, coach Kim Sang Sik highly appreciated the counter-attacking power of the U23 Philippines.

Coach Kim Sang Sik expressed satisfaction when U23 Vietnam completed the goal of passing the group stage.

“First of all, I am very pleased that we have qualified for the semi-finals. This result is the result of the tireless efforts of the whole team, the players, the coaching staff as well as the support staff. The whole team will continue to give their best and aim for a thorough preparation to achieve a positive result in the upcoming match."

Regarding the injury of central defender Pham Ly Duc, Mr. Kim said: “Ly Duc was injured during the warm-up in the match against Cambodia, having a problem with his ankle. The possibility of him playing in the semi-finals is still uncertain. We need to monitor more in today's training session.”

Despite the absence of key personnel, the Korean strategist still showed his determination to achieve positive results: “I am very happy to be in the semi-finals. We won 2 matches in the group stage thanks to the efforts of the players, coaching staff and staff. We will try to give our best on the field. We will try to prepare well to achieve favorable results.”

Commenting on U23 Philippines - the opponent in the semi-final match, coach Kim highly appreciated the organization and counter-attacking ability of this team: "The strength of the Philippines is defensive counter-attacking with players number 7 and number 20, which is very dangerous. The defenders of the U.23 Vietnam team need to be very focused to lock down these players."

He also emphasized the balance in this round: “Malaysia played well but were unlucky. At this point, the four teams entering the semi-finals are equally strong.”

The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Philippines will take place at 4:00 p.m. on July 25. This is considered a big challenge for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team, especially in the context of the defense being affected by injuries. However, the coaching staff and players are showing great determination in the preparation process.
