Coach Kim Sang-sik proposed naturalizing center-back Gustavo Santos

The proposal to naturalize central defender Gustavo Santos of Da Nang Club has just been submitted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Public Security for consideration.

On September 19, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent a dispatch to the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Public Security requesting support for the procedure of obtaining Vietnamese nationality for Da Nang's central defender Sant Ana Santos Gustavo (Gustavo Santos). This is a proposal from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and coach Kim Sang-sik.

The document emphasized that it aimed to "take advantage of and promote sports talents, contributing to the development of Vietnamese football in particular and national sports in general". Gustavo is considered a player with good skills, rich experience and suitable for the national team's strength building orientation.

Gustavo Santos was born in 1995 and arrived in Vietnam in late 2018. Since the 2019 season, he has played as a central defender for many V.League clubs such as Viettel, Saigon, SLNA, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa and recently Da Nang. At the club level, the Brazilian central defender has won many titles such as the bronze medal of the 2022 National Cup, the champion of the 2023/24 National Cup, the champion of the 2023 National Super Cup and the runner-up of the 2024 National Super Cup.

Possessing an ideal physique, solid playing style and good ability to read situations, Gustavo has affirmed his ability after many years of being associated with Vietnamese football. Coach Kim believes that this central defender can strengthen the team's defense, especially in the context of Vietnam aiming to participate in the World Cup in the future.

In recent times, Vietnamese football has made significant progress by continuously achieving achievements in the region and continent, thereby nurturing the desire to participate in the World Cup. The addition of experienced foreign players like Gustavo is expected to be a short-term solution to the goal of raising the level of the team.
