On the evening of October 9, Coach Kim Sang Sik announced the starting lineup of the Vietnamese team for the match against Nepal in Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup taking place at Go Dau Stadium (Thu Dau Mot Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) at 7:30 p.m. the same day.

Contrary to public opinion about giving the U23 players a chance because Nepal is too weak, coach Kim Sang Sik has released the strongest lineup of the Vietnamese team for this match.

In defense, the Korean coach chose the trio Duy Manh, Xuan Manh and Bui Tien Dung. Notably, Bui Tien Dung has only returned to practice in the last two sessions after injury. The goalkeeper is Dang Van Lam.

In the midfield, Mr. Kim chose the central midfielder pair Hoang Duc - Le Pham Thanh Long. The two wingers are Cao Pendant Quang Vinh (left) and Truong Tien Anh (right).

In the attack, Mr. Kim chose the trio Pham Tuan Hai (left), Tien Linh and Hai Long (right).

U23 players such as striker Dinh Bac, midfielder Xuan Bac, Khuat Van Khang, center back Hieu Minh, Nhat Minh... are all just reserves.

The Vietnamese team is currently ranked second in Group F with 3 points after 2 matches, 3 points behind the leading team Malaysia.

Before Malaysia can be penalized or have points deducted by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for cheating in using naturalized players, the Vietnamese team needs to beat Nepal to maintain the race for the top spot in the group first.
