At Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ), the Vietnamese women's team defeated Thailand 3-1 to win the bronze medal of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship. This victory had a significant contribution from Huynh Nhu with 1 goal in the second half.

"I'm happy for Huynh Nhu with the goal she scored today. As I've shared before, Nhu is still very important to the team. Even when she doesn't score, Nhu still has very high-quality passes," coach Mai Duc Chung answered Tuoi Tre Online 's question at the post-match press conference.

He continued: "I am happy with this victory, thank you Hai Phong audience and fans nationwide for supporting and giving strength to the team to compete well today. This is the second time we have won against Thailand in the tournament. We would like to dedicate today's victory to fans nationwide in the atmosphere of celebrating the anniversary of August 19 and September 2."

When asked about the possibility of winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal with this team, coach Mai Duc Chung said he could not promise in advance, but would try his best with his students.

"It's not that I don't want to rejuvenate the squad. I really wanted to bring some U20 players to the national team to play in this tournament, but because the Vietnam U20 women's team is also on duty at the same time, I can't disrupt the force," Mr. Chung said about the reason for choosing a squad with many older players in this year's tournament.

Commenting on the journey of the opponents at the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship, coach Mai Duc Chung said: "Myanmar is truly an unknown factor of the tournament. If Vietnam were in the same group, I don't know what would happen. However, I must also say that the loss to U23 Australia was just an accident, because our players tried their best."

As for Huynh Nhu, the captain of the Vietnamese women's team, she expressed her happiness with the goal.

"Today's victory took place on a very special day. Before the match, we told each other that we had to try to win to give a gift to the fans on this special occasion. The goal I scored was the result of the whole team's efforts and achievements," said Huynh Nhu.

The 3-1 victory over Thailand helped the Vietnamese women's team win third place (bronze medal) for the 6th time in the history of participating in Southeast Asian women's tournaments.

After the tournament, the Vietnamese women's team will leave camp so that the players can return to their clubs to compete in the 2025 National Women's Championship. Coach Mai Duc Chung said he will watch the matches to select new players for the team heading to the 33rd SEA Games taking place later this year.

On the Thai women's team side, head coach Futoshi Ikeda congratulated the Vietnamese women's team on their second victory at the tournament.

"Congratulations to the Vietnamese women's team. They deserve this victory. However, my players are still very young, they still have many opportunities to learn. This is not Thailand's best squad. We still have time to prepare for the SEA Games, select more personnel for the squad from now until the end of the year," said coach Ikeda.
