On his personal Facebook page, the former head coach of the Vietnamese national team wrote: "Respect for Van Quyet! The first time I came to Vietnam in 2018, in the first domestic match I ever watched, Van Quyet was a player who impressed me greatly. Until the end of my time in Vietnam and even now, that impression still remains with me."

He is a player with excellent tactical intelligence and technical skills to realize the ideas he wants to implement. Furthermore, he possesses a unique mindset to create moments of individual brilliance that go beyond structural responsibilities, a valuable quality for an attacking player.

Perhaps from an outsider's perspective, Van Quyet is a selfish player. But after having the opportunity to work with him during my tenure with the national team, I can call him a team player.

Although I was fortunate enough to have Van Quyet called up before his retirement, I felt unfortunate that I couldn't utilize him at the peak of his career. I explained to him from the beginning that, physically, it would be difficult for me to select him for the squad. However, he had to be available whenever the team needed him, as he possessed those rare qualities.

I know those words could be very direct and hurtful, but with his professionalism and experience, he respected my decision in particular and the team's overall interests in general. He always gave his all in training sessions, encouraged the younger players to improve and maintain their motivation, and stepped onto the field with the highest level of enthusiasm, especially in the tough match in Manila.

For me, Van Quyet will remain a great player in the history of Vietnamese football, one of the best playmakers the country has ever produced. I am certain that with his personality, Van Quyet will contribute even more to the future of Vietnamese football. Hopefully, I can see him in a coaching position in the very near future."

Van Quyet shared his decision to retire from the national team with coach Kim Sang Sik and his teammates in the locker room after the match against India. The Hanoi FC striker stated that although he still has a strong desire to contribute to the national team, his current physical condition does not allow him to play at the high intensity of the national team level. He believes the team needs to give more opportunities to younger players.

Van Quyet is one of the players who has dedicated many years and left a strong mark in the national team's colors. Throughout his international career, this player, who has won two Vietnamese Golden Balls, has scored many important goals and is one of the veteran players of the national team.

The Hanoi FC star has participated in many major regional and continental tournaments, winning the 2018 AFF Cup, finishing as runner-up in the 2022 AFF Cup, and reaching the semi-finals of the 2018 Asian Games, providing many memorable moments for fans.
