Support breeds and materials for VietGAHP standard chicken farming model

The Lao Cai Provincial Agricultural Extension and Services Center has just coordinated with Hung Vuong University (Phu Tho) - the project manager, and the Economic Department of Tran Yen commune to distribute breeding stock and supporting materials to households participating in the HAH-VCN chicken farming model in the direction of biosafety.

Give breeding animals to households participating in the model.

Specifically, 3 households in Tran Yen commune were supported with a total of 5,500 chickens, disinfectants, vaccines and biological products according to technical processes. These are households participating in the VietGAHP chicken farming model associated with linkage and product consumption, which was piloted to improve economic efficiency, ensure food hygiene and safety and meet market requirements.

Along with material support, households are also trained in livestock farming techniques, disease prevention, building qualified barns, and instructions on keeping livestock diary records according to VietGAHP procedures. After being sold, chickens will be given traceability labels, facilitating product consumption.

Agricultural extension officers guide households in raising chickens in a biosafety manner.

This model is expected to contribute to promoting the development of livestock farming towards commodity and sustainability, minimizing disease risks and increasing income for rural people.

HAH-VCN is a hybrid chicken breed between a male Hmong chicken and a female Egyptian chicken. HAH-VCN chickens inherit many valuable characteristics of Hmong chickens such as black meat, black bones, good meat quality, low fat, tough, firm, delicious meat and have a uniformity ratio of nearly 100%; and have better reproductive ability than purebred Hmong chickens.
