FPT Schools students win big at the 2024 International STEM Olympiad

Surpassing competitors from more than 30 countries around the world, the FPT Schools team brought home 8 medals, including 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze in three subjects: Information Technology, Science and Mathematics at the award ceremony held in The Hague, Netherlands in the early morning of July 16, 2024, Vietnam time.

4 students of FPT Schools won 8 medals at the 2024 International STEM Olympiad, held in the Netherlands.

Bui Bao Khanh, class 7A3 - FPT Ha Nam Primary, Secondary and High School (standing in the middle) won a gold medal and ranked No. 1 in Informatics for grades 6-7-8 at the 2024 International STEM Olympiad.

The 2024 International STEM Olympiad is a competition for students from grades 1 to 12 around the world. Since its inception, the competition has attracted the participation of more than 22,000 contestants from 117 countries and territories. The competition consists of three rounds, including two online rounds to select teams to participate internationally and one final round held live in the Netherlands from July 10 to July 16, 2024.

As a teacher who has led and guided the team since March, Mr. Do Bao Chau - Head of the STEM group, teacher at FPT Ha Nam Primary, Secondary and High School - said he feels happy when seeing students grow through each competition, from the preliminary round in Vietnam to the international round.

"Each of you has surpassed yourself. This achievement is completely worthy of your efforts and perseverance," Chau shared.

To help students achieve this achievement, FPT High School System said it has focused on training in Information Technology, Technology 4.0, STEM and Robotics. The school has included activities and projects in these areas in the curriculum from grades 1 to 12 to form and develop problem-solving skills, creating a creative learning style.

The unit has researched, developed and introduced knowledge about AI, robotics, technology and information technology into the program "Experience the smart world", applied throughout the system, parallel to the curriculum according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. In this program, students learn about AI and robotics with smart devices from UBTech and VexIQ, using programming languages ​​​​Scratch, python, graphic design tools, 3D printing... Thereby, students coordinate to implement STEM and AI projects related to life.

Established in 2013, FPT Schools consists of three levels: primary, middle and high school. With the philosophy of "doing differently to do better", the unit aims to create a mature experience for students through training in knowledge, skills, opportunities for self-discovery, career guidance based on a creative, understanding perspective and based on advanced educational technology platforms.

In parallel with the program according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training, FPT Schools integrates additional important training programs aiming at comprehensive development for students such as foreign languages, STEM, AI and Robotics, technology, comprehensive personal development according to 21st century skills standards and subjects with Vietnamese cultural identity.

After more than 10 years of operation, FPT Schools has 12 schools in Hanoi, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Can Tho, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Ha Nam, Thanh Hoa and is licensed to invest in Hue and Hau Giang. The FPT School system plans to continue expanding its operations in many provinces and cities in the coming years.
