On April 25, at the beach in Binh Kien commune, Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province, the Asian Volleyball Federation coordinated with the Provincial People's Committee and Cong May Joint Stock Company to organize the 2025 Asian Women's Beach Volleyball Championship.

This is the first time Phu Yen province has organized a regional beach volleyball tournament. The 2025 Asian Women's Beach Volleyball Championship will feature 44 athletes from 22 teams from 10 Asian countries and territories, including Australia, Japan, Thailand, China, Malaysia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Vanuatu, Hong Kong (China) and Vietnam.

Host Vietnam has 4 participating teams, including 8 core athletes of the national team preparing to compete in the upcoming SEA Games. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to gain experience and compete with athletes of international caliber.

The teams are divided into 8 groups and compete in a round-robin format; then the first and second place teams in each group will compete in the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh , Head of the Beach Volleyball Committee of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, said that this is a prestigious regional volleyball tournament, one of six official volleyball tournaments in the Asian Volleyball Federation system in 2025.

In addition to the high prize money, excellent athletes will also earn points to register for the next tournaments. The tournament promises to be fiercely competitive because the quality of athletes registering to compete is quite high. Compared to the previous Asian Women's Beach Volleyball Championship held in Can Tho in 2019, this year's tournament has increased by 4 teams.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen province, Le Hoang Phu, the province has made efforts to ensure everything from competition grounds, equipment to logistics, medical care, and accommodation arrangements for athletes, coaches, referees, etc.

Through this sporting event, the province will promote and advertise Phu Yen to domestic and foreign tourists. Athletes will be able to visit and experience the province's attractive tourist destinations. This event also conveys the meaningful message "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho."

Competing on the opening day, athlete Georgia Johnson (Australia) said she was very happy to come to Vietnam to participate in the tournament. The people here are very gentle, hospitable and cheer enthusiastically for the teams. The beaches of Phu Yen province are very beautiful. Athlete Georgia Johnson said she will be determined to compete with all her might to win a high prize.

The 2025 Asian Women's Beach Volleyball Championship is expected to close and award prizes on April 28./.
