Provincial Women's Union: Commending collectives and individuals in the "Godmother" program

On June 28, the Provincial Women's Union held a conference to commend and honor outstanding collectives and individuals in implementing the "Godmother" program and held an award ceremony for the Inspirational Story Writing Contest in the "Godmother" program.

Responding to the launch of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, from 2022, the Provincial Women's Union has developed a plan to implement the "Godmother" program to 100% of the union's bases. The union also directed all levels of the union to step up propaganda work to mobilize agencies, businesses, and philanthropists to pay attention to supporting and sponsoring orphans directly or indirectly through the union at all levels.

The Provincial Women's Union awarded first prize in the Inspirational Story Writing Contest in the "Godmother" program to Vu Thi Ngoc Anh, Vang Danh ward (Uong Bi city).

In 2022, through the "Godmother" program, units connected, supported, and sponsored 295 orphans in especially difficult circumstances in the province with an amount of over 1.7 billion VND. Of which, women's union officials and members sponsored 18 children; philanthropists and businesses sponsored 169 children. In 2023, women's unions at all levels registered to sponsor 60 orphans. By the end of May 2023, unions at all levels had connected and sponsored 38 children, bringing the total number of 333 children sponsored through the "Godmother" program.

At the program, representatives of sponsored orphans in the province shared their thoughts and feelings, expressed gratitude to the godmothers, organizations, businesses, and philanthropists who shared difficulties, cared for, and encouraged the children to overcome the pain of losing their biological parents. The godmothers also shared how they organized their family life after adopting orphans, expressed deep sympathy for the unfortunate lives and wished to continue to accompany the children on the journey ahead.

The authors were awarded prizes by the Provincial Women's Union in the Inspirational Story Writing Contest in the program "Godmother".

The Provincial Women's Union also commended and honored 22 groups and 8 individuals who have made many contributions to the implementation of the "Godmother" program at all levels. At the same time, 12 prizes were awarded to authors who had good and inspiring articles in the Inspirational Story Writing Contest in the "Godmother" program, including 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 2 third prizes and 8 consolation prizes.

Also at the program, the Provincial Women's Union held the 7th Executive Committee Conference, term XII to summarize the work of the Union and women's movement in the first 6 months of the year and the direction and tasks for the last 6 months of 2023; organized farewell parties for former members of the Provincial Women's Union Executive Committee, Chairmen of Women's Unions of localities and units.
