Smooth coordination, precise operation
After the opening ceremony of the sports festival, the training ground of the 918th Air Force Regiment (Air Defense - Air Force) immediately became bustling. Hearing the starting command, the athletes quickly maneuvered into position, installed pipes, connected valves, and led water from the fire truck through a 100m long pipe to the nozzle position. The water stream sprayed strongly into the focal box, white foam sprayed amidst the cheers of many supporters from the groups. The cheers grew louder and louder, as if giving the athletes more strength to hold the fire nozzle tightly to keep the water spraying accurately through the small hole on the focal box. The red light signaled that the competition was complete.
The Air Defense - Air Force team was one of the first teams to compete. Although they completed the test with relatively good results, and the athletes' actions were assessed as quite accurate, Lieutenant Le Bui Ngoc Cong, a member of the Air Defense - Air Force team, still had some regrets: "Because the car was about 10 seconds late in getting water, the results were not as expected. Partly due to a technical error, partly because it was the first time participating in a large-scale military-level sports competition, the team members were still confused. We will learn from our experience to compete better next time."

Promoting the advantages and learning from previous teams, the Military Region 3 team coordinated more smoothly, the wire was straight, the water was supplied quickly and evenly, and the two fire hoses simultaneously sprayed water accurately into the focal box. Completing the test in 1 minute and 54 seconds, Military Region 3 was one of the teams with the highest achievements. Major Phung Hung Gioi, Team Leader, excitedly shared: “The achievements reflect the training results of the unit. We organized the training according to a clear “fighting strategy”, from winding the wire, controlling the pump, to the operating positions, everything was smooth and synchronized, ensuring the fire hose sprayed water stably into the focal box”.
After the competition of the two-wheeled fire truck formation with suction hose, there are the following competitions: Firefighting sports formation combined with moving assets; Firefighting sports formation rescuing people from the fire. These are contents that require high physical strength, technique and team spirit. The asset to be moved is a 40kg wooden box; the victim is simulated by a mannequin. Athletes must quickly overcome obstacles, approach, and bring assets or victims out of the fire area safely. Captain Pham Van Ninh (Armored Team) said: “This is a difficult test, requiring athletes to have good physical strength, as well as skillful use of fire control skills, and smooth teamwork, especially in the part of rolling water barrels to the finish line. A decisive factor is the time to put out the fire. Athletes who complete this content well will facilitate the whole team to shorten the time, improving the overall performance”.
Ready for any fire or explosion situation
After more than two days of active and serious competition, the teams successfully completed all the competition content. The Organizing Committee assessed: All teams strictly followed discipline, competed honestly, unitedly, demonstrated a sense of responsibility, determination and steadfastness. The sports festival also showed that the quality of fire prevention and fighting training in units throughout the army has been significantly improved, with even and comprehensive progress.
