According to a preliminary report from the Department of Education and Training, 23,928 out of 23,988 candidates participated in the exam on the morning of May 28th, achieving a participation rate of 99.75%; 60 candidates were absent, accounting for 0.25%. At the examination centers, the organization continued to be implemented seriously and in accordance with regulations; conditions regarding facilities, security, order, traffic safety, and exam support were ensured.
In the morning, candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam completed the Mathematics test – the final subject of the entrance exam for non-specialized high school students. Despite the prolonged hot weather, the atmosphere at many examination sites remained relatively stable.
After the exam time ended, many candidates left the examination room feeling relaxed, as the exam questions were considered to be of appropriate difficulty and closely followed the curriculum.

The conclusion of the morning exam also means that tens of thousands of non-specialized high school students have officially completed the entrance exam for 10th grade in the 2026-2027 school year. Many parents present at the exam site said they felt reassured by the meticulous organization of the exam, the coordinated efforts of the authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow, and the favorable conditions for the candidates to take the exam.
Meanwhile, on the afternoon of the same day, more than 1,040 candidates registered to take the entrance exam for Lao Cai Specialized High School and Nguyen Tat Thanh Specialized High School continued with the specialized subject exam. The specialized subjects included: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Informatics, English, and Chinese. This is considered a highly competitive part of the exam, as each specialized class is planned to admit a maximum of 35 students.
In addition to the three common subjects—Mathematics, Literature, and English—as in the non-specialized program, students applying to specialized classes will take an exam in the corresponding specialized subject. After 150 minutes of intense testing, candidates emerged from the examination room with varying emotions, but most agreed that this year's exam was of good quality and suitable for the selection requirements of specialized schools.

Nung Ngoc Tra, a student from Nam Cuong Secondary School (Cam Duong Ward) who took the entrance exam for the Biology specialized class at Lao Cai Specialized High School, said that the exam questions closely followed the curriculum, had appropriate difficulty levels, and did not create too much pressure, helping her to confidently complete the exam and hoping to achieve good results to enter her desired school.
According to many teachers, this year's specialized subject exams focused on students' critical thinking abilities, application of knowledge, and analytical skills. The subjects tested showed a relatively clear differentiation, helping schools select students suitable for specialized training programs.
After a long period of preparation and stressful exam days, what was noticeable at the exam centers on the afternoon of May 28th was the relaxed and cheerful mood of the candidates. Many took the opportunity to take souvenir photos with friends and teachers after completing the important exam.

Do Phuc Khang An, a student from Ly Tu Trong Secondary School (Cam Duong Ward), who took the entrance exam for the specialized Geography class at Lao Cai Specialized High School, said: “I tried my best in the exam and I am quite satisfied with my performance. Currently, I feel very relaxed because I have completed the exam and can now enter the summer vacation.”
Besides organizing the exams, the "Supporting Students During Exams" campaign continued to be actively implemented at many exam locations throughout the province. Youth union members assisted in traffic management, distributed drinking water, guided candidates and parents, contributing to creating a safe and favorable exam environment despite the intense heat.

Tomorrow morning (May 29th), candidates taking the entrance exams for the specialized Literature and Mathematics classes will complete their final tests. At this point, the majority of candidates applying for admission to the 10th grade in both non-specialized and specialized high schools for the 2026-2027 academic year have essentially completed their exams, concluding a journey of hard work towards their desired high school.
