During the peak holiday period of April 30th - May 1st, domestic airlines are expected to operate 7,536 flights on domestic routes, averaging 685 flights per day.
According to a representative from the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, in order to meet the demand for air transport during the April 30th - May 1st holiday and the peak summer season of 2025, domestic airlines have proactively prepared resources, added aircraft, and developed plans to increase flights to serve the peak period, especially increasing capacity on domestic routes.
Specifically, on domestic routes, Vietnamese airlines are expected to operate 7,536 flights (an average of 685 flights per day), representing increases of 24% and 21% respectively.
The total number of seats available during this period is expected to be around 1.5 million, representing a 20% increase compared to the flight schedule before the increase in flights and a 22% increase compared to the same period last year.
Of these, the majority of flights were on routes to and from Ho Chi Minh City, with 5,083 flights (an average of 462 flights/day), representing increases of 21% and 21% respectively.

Specifically for the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, airlines are expected to operate 1,261 flights, providing 305,000 seats.
During the peak summer season of 2025 (from May 15th to August 15th), domestic airlines are expected to operate 68,558 flights on domestic routes.
Particularly, flights to tourist destinations (Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Quy Nhon) were operated by airlines with over 20,000 flights, accounting for 30% of the total number of flights operated.
On the main routes (Hanoi, Da Nang , and Ho Chi Minh City), airlines are expected to operate 26,800 flights with nearly 5.9 million seats.
Specifically for routes to and from Ho Chi Minh City, airlines have planned to operate 45,000 flights with 9.23 million seats, averaging 490 flights per day.
Request to adjust flight times upwards.
According to a survey, as of March 24th, airfares for some routes to popular tourist destinations during the April 30th holiday, such as Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Da Lat, have increased sharply.
Vietnam Airlines' Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route saw a price increase of approximately 68% from March 29th to May 2nd compared to previous days, reaching nearly 2.5 million VND per ticket. Vietjet Air, on the other hand, increased its fare by 80% compared to the usual price, reaching 890,000 VND per ticket (excluding taxes and fees).
Vietnam Airlines' Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route saw a 73% increase in price compared to the previous period, reaching 1.9 million VND per ticket over four days (April 29th - May 2nd). Vietjet Air also doubled its usual price, reaching over 1 million VND per ticket (excluding taxes and fees).
Based on market demand and the operational plans of airlines, a representative from the Civil Aviation Authority stated that the Authority has adjusted the coordination parameters at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Accordingly, the Department increased the coordination parameters to 46 flights/hour during daytime hours and 36 flights/hour during nighttime hours during the April 30th and May 1st holiday period.
Additionally, the airport is also required to increase its flight capacity to 44-46 flights/hour during daytime hours and 36 flights/hour during nighttime hours during the peak summer season of 2025 and the National Day holiday on September 2nd.
