Phu Dong Sports Festival is the largest sports event for high school students, aiming to encourage training, improve health and physical development. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Sports Festival is held once a year at the school level, every two years at the district level; every two to three years at the provincial level, and every four years at the national level. Students participating must be under 18 years old, not in the gifted training category, and have no history of cardiovascular, neurological or other diseases that make them unfit to compete in sports.
The last time Hanoi organized the Phu Dong Sports Festival was in 2016. In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, forcing the event to be suspended. That is why after 8 years, Hanoi students can compete in this event.
