Hon Hai Island has the shape of a square rock block growing vertically 70 km from Phu Quy Island amidst very complex ocean currents.

To maintain the operation of this lighthouse, according to some employees working here: Timely supply of necessities, materials, and equipment for the staff to keep and operate the lighthouse is extremely difficult. When the weather is favorable, the wind is level 2, 3, the ship can dock at the pier. However, in case of rough seas with wind level 5, level 6, waves 2 m high or higher, the ship cannot dock at the pier.
Shift changes are always difficult. Sailors on the supply ship can only supply food to the lighthouse station in small, watertight packages in tightly sealed plastic drums pulled from the ship to the island. When bringing workers to the island, they often have to use a basket boat to row close to the island, choosing the waves to get ashore. On the contrary, when workers change shifts from the island to the ship to the mainland, in addition to the above options, they sometimes have to hold on to a rope and swim to the ship. In the case of winds of level 5 or 6 or higher, there is no option to supply the workers on the island...

In such difficult conditions of material shortages, lack of family and community affection, the collective of officers and workers of Hon Hai lighthouse still persevered to ensure 100% operation of the light to signal and guide ships to travel safely on the sea, contributing to the overall achievements of Ensuring Maritime Safety in the South Central region.
In the past 5 years, despite many difficulties, the collective of officers and employees managing the Thuan An maritime signal channel - Ensuring maritime safety in the Central region, under the leadership of Party cell secretary and Station chief Nguyen Trung Hieu, has always been aware of building a united collective, promoting the spirit of learning and creativity; determined not to let any incidents happen due to equipment or operator errors.
Initiatives in manufacturing signs with the name of the management unit and phone number on buoys; manufacturing construction warning signs attached to fixed beacons along with strict implementation of the rules and regulations set forth by the Central Maritime Safety Assurance and the Vietnam Maritime Safety Assurance Corporation have affirmed the contribution to the overall achievements of the Vietnam Maritime Safety Assurance Corporation.
