Delegates perform the bridge closing ceremony.

Binh Khanh Bridge is the main item of Package J1 (Km21+739.5 - Km24+503), part of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway. The bridge crosses the Soai Rap River, connecting Nha Be District and Can Gio District (HCMC), and plays a particularly important role in determining the overall progress of the entire project.

With a length of 2.763 km, the bridge is designed using modern double-plane cable-stayed technology, with a main span of 375 m and two towers 155 m high. Notably, the bridge has a clearance of up to 55 m - the highest in Vietnam today - meeting the standards for large ships to safely and conveniently navigate through the area.

This phase of the bridge closing focuses on the last girder segment connecting the bridge spans across the river using cantilever technology. Previously, the contractor had completed the construction of segments K18 at piers P19 and P20 along with the cable-stayed system. The successful closing is not only of technical significance but also creates a strong push for the progress of the entire route.

Package J1 is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), with a total construction contract value of over VND2,800 billion. The construction contractor consortium includes Shimizu Corporation (Japan) and Vinaconex Construction and Engineering Investment Joint Stock Company. The supervision consultant is the KEI - NE - OCG - TEDI consortium.

When completed, the expressway will help directly connect the Mekong Delta region with the Southeast region without having to go through the center of Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to reducing the load on National Highway 1, National Highway 51 and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.

This is also one of the projects of special significance in promoting socio -economic development and strengthening national defense and security for the key economic region of the South.
