The project was approved in principle by the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Council in Resolution No. 41/NQ-HDND dated September 30, 2019 and approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1358/QD-UBND dated November 4, 2020. With a total investment of over 682 billion VND from the central and local budgets, the project demonstrates the province's great determination in developing synchronous and modern infrastructure.

The Day River Overpass has a total length of 1.2km, a cross-section width of 12m, consisting of 22 spans using a continuous beam structure using the balanced cantilever method - one of the most advanced technologies today. The bridge foundation uses bored piles, with a maximum length of over 100m, ensuring the durability and stability of the project.

Delegates performed the closing ceremony of the Day River bridge connecting Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh .

The approach road at both ends of the bridge is designed according to the standards of a level III plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h and a road surface width of 12m. The total length of the route is 3.25km, contributing to smooth connection in the regional traffic system.

Up to now, about 85% of the project's workload has been completed. Of which, all 22 main bridge spans have been installed. Construction units are focusing on completing the bridge deck, railings, drainage system and K98 roadbed. The K95 roadbed alone has completed more than 2km, and auxiliary works are being accelerated.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Ninh Binh Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, Mr. Pham Quoc Chinh said: Immediately after the closing ceremony, the investor will build a detailed schedule for the remaining volume, mobilize maximum equipment, machinery, and human resources to organize overtime and night work, taking advantage of all time including holidays and days off to bring the project to completion on time.

The project will create new economic development space and strengthen regional connectivity.

Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc, Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, directly assigned the investor and construction units to continue to coordinate closely, focusing all efforts on the dual goal: ensuring fast progress and quality, safety and efficiency. The goal is to complete the project to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the upcoming National Day on September 2.

The Day River Overpass, when completed, will not only contribute to completing the strategic transport network of Ninh Binh province but also effectively connect with Nam Dinh and Thanh Hoa, forming an inter-regional coastal transport axis. The project is expected to create new economic development space, strengthen regional connectivity, expand trade opportunities, promote the development of marine economic sectors, logistics services and tourism.

Currently, the Day River overpass project has completed 85% of the volume.

In particular, with increasingly complex climate change, the coastal route plays an important role as a defense line, helping to effectively respond to natural disasters, while firmly consolidating national defense and security in the North Central Coast region.

With that meaning, the completion of the Day River overpass is not only a technical and construction event, but also an effort to synchronously develop transport infrastructure, connect regions, and bring Ninh Binh and neighboring areas to rise strongly on the map of Vietnam's marine economy.
