Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam, Deputy General Director of TKV, directed units assigned to manage and operate storm prevention works to regularly inspect and maintain them.
Provide enough coal for electricity
According to the plan, in June, TKV's raw coal output will reach 3.12 million tons; the cumulative output for the first 6 months of the year is expected to reach 20.84 million tons. Clean coal output will reach 3.42 million tons in June and 21 million tons in the first 6 months of the year.
To successfully complete the production and business tasks in June and strive to achieve the growth target of over 8% in 2025 as directed by the Government , TKV and its units are focusing on implementing well the work of preventing and fighting storms; continuing to maintain the production pace, maximizing output; ensuring production, import, processing and blending, meeting the coal demand for the market and for electricity production.
In the first months of 2025, TKV will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) in organizing coal supply to power plants according to the committed schedule, contributing to maintaining stable power production and ensuring safe inventory levels at the plants.
Coal supply for EVN’s thermal power plants is also implemented synchronously, in accordance with the system operation situation and actual hydrological conditions. Supply targets are flexibly adjusted according to the consumption plan, ensuring to meet the requirements of electricity production and fuel reserves according to regulations.
TKV General Director, Mr. Vu Anh Tuan affirmed that he will continue to prioritize ensuring both the quantity and quality of coal for EVN's power plants, in order to meet the electricity production needs according to the signed contract, especially in the dry months of 2025, in the spirit of working together for the common goal of completing the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.
TKV and EVN also plan to coordinate to review coal demand and supply plans, in order to proactively meet the demand for mobilizing resources of the national power system in the following months.
It is known that in the first 5 months of the year, TKV has supplied nearly 20 million tons of coal for electricity production. Mineral and chemical units in TKV continued to maintain production with high output in the first 5 months of the year.
Specifically, alumina production reached 625,000 tons, equal to 102% over the same period; consumption reached 590,000 tons, equal to the same period last year. Copper concentrate production reached 47,320 tons; copper plate production reached 13,890 tons, equal to 108% over the same period. Electricity output reached 4.89 billion kWh, equal to 114% over the same period last year. In addition, 35,000 tons of explosives and 81,000 tons of ammonium nitrate were produced in the first 5 months of the year.
Ensure maximum safety during storm season
According to the plan, TKV's consolidated revenue in June is expected to reach 16,690 billion VND; accumulated revenue in the first 6 months of 2025 is estimated to reach 94,570 billion VND.
Previously, in the first 5 months of the year, TKV's total accumulated revenue reached about 77,880 billion VND; the state budget contribution was more than 12,300 billion VND. The Group's main production and business indicators all increased compared to the same period in 2024, such as: revenue increased by 4%, profit increased by 12%, state budget contribution increased by 7%.
Entering June 2025, TKV forecasts that storms and rains will increase, which may affect the Group's production and business activities, especially coal and mineral mining units. Heavy rainfall will reduce coal demand for electricity production.
During a recent inspection of storm prevention and control work in the Quang Ninh coal region, Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam, Deputy General Director of TKV, emphasized that storm prevention and control work is a permanent task, closely linked to the goal of protecting the safety of workers' lives, equipment, assets and maintaining stable production, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and determination of the units as well as the entire Group in ensuring the highest safety for production and workers.
Units assigned to manage and operate storm prevention and control works must regularly inspect and maintain them to avoid passive situations. At the same time, units need to pay special attention to developing and practicing incident response plans, ensuring that there are always scenarios for handling all situations, especially in the increasingly unusual extreme weather conditions.
