The UK's Maritime Trade Organisation said it had received reports of a missile being fired 90 nautical miles southeast of the Yemeni port city of Aden.

"The captain reported a missile landing in the sea just 400 to 500 meters from the ship," the statement said, adding that there were no injuries or damage. Ambrey stated, "This is the second oil tanker targeted by the Houthi while carrying Russian oil."
Houthi fighters, who control much of Yemen, have launched drone and missile attacks on Western commercial ships in the Red Sea since November 19, in protest against Israeli military operations in Gaza.
Ambrey's report assessed that the vessel had been mistakenly targeted based on outdated public information linking the ship to the United Kingdom. "This vessel... is listed as having links to the United Kingdom on a public maritime database," the report stated.
The US and UK launched air and sea attacks on Houthi military targets in Yemen on Thursday night. Russia condemned the attacks and called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
