On May 16, 2025, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT), the final round of the "Student Scientific Research Competition 2025-2026" took place in a vibrant, academic, and inspiring atmosphere. The competition further affirmed its role as a prestigious scientific platform, contributing to the strong promotion of scientific research among students throughout the university.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Thai Doan Thanh - Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade - highly appreciated the sense of responsibility of the lecturers in the Scientific Council and the efforts and creativity of the students participating in the competition.
According to the school's leadership, building on the success of the 2024-2025 academic year's competition, this year's contest continues to inspire initiative, creative thinking, and the widespread dissemination of scientific research among HUIT students. The feedback from the expert panel not only helps the teams refine their projects but also becomes valuable preparation for their future studies and research.
In recent years, HUIT has consistently prioritized student scientific and technological activities and innovation. The number and quality of scientific research projects have steadily increased year after year, demonstrating the university's serious investment and the students' creative spirit.
Many projects have achieved outstanding results in prestigious academic competitions such as the Science and Technology Award for students in higher education institutions and the Euréka Student Scientific Research Award.

"In particular, many of the projects participating in this year's Final Round were highly appreciated by the Scientific Council for their timeliness, applicability, creativity, and potential for practical development," emphasized Dr. Thai Doan Thanh.
This year's competition attracted 250 entries with the participation of 878 students from 13 faculties of the university. After the faculty-level competition, 90 outstanding entries were selected to advance to the university-level final round.
In the final round, the projects were thoroughly evaluated by the expert scientific council across five fields: Food technology - nutrition; Chemical - biological - environmental technology; Engineering science; Economics; and Social sciences.
The judging process was conducted objectively and fairly based on several criteria such as research content, scientific products, poster presentation style, and the students' ability to debate and answer questions.
In particular, beyond demonstrating specialized knowledge, many projects also showcased students' sensitivity to current events, technological trends, and the practical demands of society. The research focused on various topics such as food preservation technology, biomaterials, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and legal issues in the digital environment.
The Organizing Committee stated that the quality of this year's projects has shown significant positive changes, with many research projects receiving thorough investment and having the potential to further develop into applied products or participate in higher-level academic competitions.

In the final results, the Organizing Committee awarded 5 first prizes, 8 second prizes, 12 third prizes, and 65 consolation prizes to high-quality projects that demonstrated creativity and practical applicability.

Dr. Phan Xuan Cuong - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Head of Student Affairs Department of HUIT and Dr. Thai Doan Thanh - Vice Rector of the University awarded the First Prize in the field of food technology and nutrition to the research project "Study of the properties of Chitosan-Alginate double coating films and their application in preserving mangoes (Mangifera indica L.)".
In addition, five "Most Voted Science Poster" awards were given in each field to honor the serious and creative investment of the groups in conveying their research message. Furthermore, the Organizing Committee also awarded one prize for the most impressive video clip.
Specifically, in the field of food technology and nutrition, the first prize went to the project "Research on the properties of Chitosan-Alginate double coatings and their application in preserving mangoes (Mangifera indica L.)" by students Nguyen Huu Hoa, Huynh Ngoc Anh Thu, and Ha Pham Kim Tuyen from the Faculty of Food Technology.

The school's leadership awarded the first prize in the field of chemical, biological, and environmental technology to the project "Research on the process of separating lignin from coconut fiber (Cocos nucifera L.) using deep eutectic solvent (DES) for application in antibacterial gauze".

The school's leadership awarded the first prize in the science and technology field to the project "Building a Vires-Hotelabsa dataset for the problem of analyzing sentiment based on aspects".
In the field of science and engineering, the first prize was awarded to the project "Building a Vires-Hotelabsa dataset for the problem of aspect-based sentiment analysis" by students Nguyen Huu Thang and Doan Tan Minh Tan from the Faculty of Information Technology.

The school's leadership awarded the first prize in the economics field to the topic "The Impact of Industrialization, Urbanization, and Globalization on Human Development in Vietnam".
In the field of economics, the first prize was awarded to the project "The Impact of Industrialization, Urbanization, and Globalization on Human Development in Vietnam" by the student group Pham Thi Hong Ngoc, Dao Thi Phuong Ngan, and Nguyen Khanh Toan, from the Faculty of Commerce.

The school's leadership awarded the first prize in the social sciences field to the research topic "Current laws on preventing and combating deepfake technology in the context of digital transformation in Vietnam".
Meanwhile, in the social sciences field, the first prize was awarded to the topic "Current Laws on Preventing and Combating Deepfake Technology in the Context of Digital Transformation in Vietnam" by the group of students Nguyen Kim Ngan, Tran Nguyen Nhat Uyen, Truong Hoang Thy Phuong, Vu Thuy Trang, and Tran Thi Khanh Ngoc from the Faculty of Law.
According to the Scientific Council's assessment, many research topics not only have academic value but also closely address practical needs, demonstrating innovative thinking and the students' ability to access new technological trends.

The "Student Scientific Research Competition 2025-2026" honors scientific research projects with high applicability and a strong relevance to current events.
Also at the event, Dr. Thai Doan Thanh, on behalf of the university leadership, officially launched the "Student Scientific Research Movement for the 2026-2027 academic year," beginning with the selection of research topics at the faculty level in November 2026 and concluding with the Student Scientific Research Competition in May 2027.
Dr. Thai Doan Thanh expressed his confidence that the competition in the 2026-2027 academic year will continue to produce many high-quality research projects with rich applications. This will contribute to promoting innovation among HUIT students and meeting the development needs of society in the current digital transformation era.
Over the past period, HUIT has identified student scientific research as a key task, as evidenced by the increasing scale of research projects and numerous achievements at prestigious academic awards such as Euréka. The Student Scientific Research Competition spreads a spirit of creativity and innovation, while creating a dynamic academic environment that helps students develop research thinking and connect professional knowledge with practice.
