Subjects and methods of declaration
According to regulations, individuals doing business on e-commerce platforms (Shopee, Lazada, Tiki), selling via Facebook, Zalo, receiving income from advertising (Google, YouTube) or distributing applications (CH Play, App Store) must all declare taxes.
This is done via the Electronic Information Portal at https://canhantmdt.gdt.gov.vn. Each individual will be given a 13-digit tax code, in which the first 10 digits are the personal tax code and the last 3 digits are 888 by default.
Online tax registration and declaration process
To register and declare taxes, taxpayers need to use a level 2 VNeID electronic identification account issued by the Ministry of Public Security to log into the portal.
The system will automatically check the tax registration status. If the individual does not have a 10-digit tax code, the system will provide a registration form, automatically fill in information from the national population data, allow the user to edit if necessary and confirm via OTP code sent to the phone. The tax code will be issued immediately after verification.
In case you already have a 10-digit tax code but do not have a 13-digit code (ending with 888), the system will request additional documents. After completing the registration, individuals can declare and pay taxes directly on the portal.
Flexible tax declaration and payment according to business activities
Regular business: Monthly declaration.
Discontinuous business: Declare each occurrence.
After completing the declaration, users can pay taxes immediately or later via the "Pay Tax" function. The payment process is done by linking a bank account, entering the amount, creating a payment slip and confirming via OTP. The transaction results will be displayed immediately on the system for easy tracking.
Promoting transparency and digital transformation in tax administration
The online tax declaration system not only brings convenience to online business people but also improves tax management efficiency, ensuring transparency and publicity.
This process is in line with the national digital transformation orientation, supports inter-sectoral data connection and helps taxpayers fulfill their obligations proactively and conveniently.
With this guide, individuals and e-commerce businesses can rest assured that they comply with regulations, avoid the risk of being penalized, and contribute to building a transparent and sustainable online business environment.
