Video tutorial on converting from Toll Account to Traffic Account and connecting payment means. (Source: VETC)
It can be understood that the traffic account is an identifier for the vehicle, the traffic account will be linked to electronic wallets such as ePass or VETC as an intermediary to pay for bridge and road costs...
For VETC toll accounts, vehicle owners only need to upgrade from a toll account to a VETC e-wallet, deposit money from linked banks into the wallet and use it to pay non-stop automatic fees such as road bridges, parking, airport entrances, etc.
As for the ePass toll account, the car owner only needs to link it to the Viettel Money e-wallet to be successful. In case the car owner does not have a Viettel Money e-wallet, he can link it to a Visa card. However, linking payment from a Visa card (with the same name as the ePass account owner) will incur an additional fee of 1-2% per payment, depending on the bank.
To upgrade to a traffic account, vehicle owners need to upgrade from a toll account to an e-wallet, verify and biometric to complete.
How is the surplus in the fee collection account handled?
The remaining amount in the toll collection account, from now until October 1, will be given priority by non-stop toll collection service providers to pay for bridge and road fees.
After October 1st, there will be 2 cases:
In case the vehicle owner has an e-wallet connected to the traffic account, money from the toll account will be transferred to the e-wallet.
In cases where vehicle owners do not have an e-wallet, it will be more difficult to have a toll collection account linked only to a credit card. The management agency has asked the supplier to return it to the vehicle owner's bank account.
