Through mergers, restructuring, and strong transformation in infrastructure, equipment, and human resources, Quang Ngai 2 General Hospital (Quang Ngai province) is gradually affirming its position as a grade I provincial hospital with increasingly improved quality of medical examination and treatment, aiming at patient satisfaction and contributing to reducing pressure on upper levels.
Quang Ngai 2 General Hospital is the new name of the former Kon Tum Provincial General Hospital. With a planned capacity of 780 beds, 715 staff, civil servants and workers, 5 functional departments and 31 specialized departments, the hospital has been ranked Grade I by Kon Tum Province (old) and is gradually promoting its role as a leading provincial hospital in the new locality.
Over the years, Quang Ngai 2 General Hospital has continuously innovated, invested in facilities, upgraded medical equipment and deployed many specialized techniques, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, serving not only the people of Quang Ngai province but also receiving and effectively treating, saving the lives of many patients from neighboring localities such as Gia Lai and Dak Lak.
Specialist Doctor II Vo Van Thien, Director of Quang Ngai General Hospital 2, said that in the new context, the hospital must comprehensively innovate in terms of infrastructure, service quality, expertise and service attitude. Patients are the center, all hospital activities must take patient satisfaction as a measure of effectiveness.
In recent times, Quang Ngai 2 General Hospital has focused on investing in modern medical equipment. Many high-tech equipment have been put into use such as 32 and 128-slice CT Scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI, automatic biochemical and immunological testing system, blood filtration system, extracorporeal lithotripsy machine, high-pressure oxygen treatment system, PCR testing system, Elisa...
Notably, the hospital has successfully deployed many new techniques, such as: Hip and knee replacement surgery, endoscopic gastrointestinal surgery, ear-nose-throat surgery, arthroscopy, thoracic-vascular surgery, neurosurgery-spinal surgery, ECMO (artificial heart-lung surgery), plasma exchange, continuous blood filtration, chemotherapy for cancer, surgery and resuscitation of newborns, etc. These are difficult techniques, previously only performed at central hospitals or large cities.
To grasp these complex techniques, the hospital has actively cooperated and received technology transfer from leading hospitals such as: Cho Ray, Bach Mai, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, Thong Nhat, Hue Central, Da Nang C... Thereby, not only helping to reduce the overload situation for upper-level hospitals but also helping to save costs and time for patients, especially people in remote areas.
In addition to investing in equipment, Quang Ngai 2 General Hospital pays special attention to improving the quality of human resources, regularly sending doctors to study specialized level I, II, in-depth training, and training domestically and internationally; building a professional and fair working environment, creating conditions for medical staff to promote their capacity, dedication and commitment to the profession.
Not only stopping at expertise, medical ethics education and service attitude of the medical team are also given special attention. "We thoroughly understand the spirit of considering patients as the center, putting the interests of patients above all. A smile, a caring explanation, a dedication in each treatment case is the foundation to build trust with the people", Director of Quang Ngai General Hospital 2 Vo Van Thien emphasized.
Currently, the hospital has been deploying software applications for hospital management, human resource management, public assets, electronic health records, electronic medical records... to help improve management efficiency, save time and costs for patients. Initially, the unit has deployed remote medical examination, connecting expertise with upper-level hospitals, creating conditions for people in remote areas to access high-quality medical services without having to travel far.
From a bedridden patient, Mr. Le Van Canh, from Ngok Bay commune, was able to stand up, walk and smile happily. “I never believed that I could walk quickly and end the persistent pain after only 1 week of surgery at the hospital. This is truly a miracle,” Mr. Canh emotionally shared on the day of his follow-up examination.
Despite achieving many positive results, according to the assessment of the hospital's Board of Directors, the current information technology infrastructure is still outdated and does not meet the requirements of comprehensive digital transformation. Therefore, we hope that the Department of Health and relevant agencies of Quang Ngai province will continue to pay attention to investing in information technology, including the electronic medical record software system, remote medical examination and treatment and applications supporting smart medical management; promptly approve the Phase 2 Medical Equipment Investment Project; have policies to support funding for training to improve professional skills; reasonable remuneration regimes, and appropriate forms of emulation and reward to motivate and retain good human resources, especially in remote areas...
