
The workshop was organized in person and online to the provinces of Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang , Phu Tho, Lang Son, Nghe An, and representatives of Bach Mai and Viet Duc hospitals.
At the workshop, Mr. Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the workshop aimed to concretize the Party and State's policy on comprehensive digital transformation in all fields, especially healthcare. Thereby, assessing the current status of digital infrastructure, sharing experiences and proposing solutions to apply digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to serve people's healthcare, especially in remote areas of Dien Bien province and the Northwest region. This is also an important occasion to evaluate achievements, challenges and strategic directions in developing digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence, contributing to effectively implementing the national goal of digital transformation, towards a smarter, closer to the people and more effective healthcare system.
According to the report, digital infrastructure and digital health applications in Dien Bien province currently have 45/45 commune health stations connected to the network; 100% of units have fiber optic internet; basic infrastructure meets the requirements for deploying electronic medical records according to the Circular of the Ministry of Health. 100% of medical examination and treatment facilities deploy HIS software; 09/15 medical examination and treatment facilities have Telehealth system (reaching 60%).
By the end of September 2025, 100% (13/14) public hospitals will deploy and publish electronic medical records on the Ministry of Health's Information Portal; 83.3% of health insurance examinations and treatments will use chip-embedded citizen identification cards/VNeID... However, in addition to the achieved results, the medical infrastructure at the commune level is still weak, some software has not yet connected results between levels; medical data is not synchronized...
At the workshop, delegates listened to experts present on the activities of the AI4LIFE Institute and solutions for applying artificial intelligence in medicine, smart healthcare, environmental monitoring and greenhouse gas emission monitoring; OSB satellite information network and solutions for covering "concave areas", connecting digital infrastructure, supporting communication in natural disaster prevention; smart hospital solutions, AI support, professional management, aiming towards paperless, patient-centered and practical sharing from Ho Hai 1 School (Muong Cha commune) on the effectiveness of supported satellite Internet stations.
The workshop on digital infrastructure development and artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector has provided practical solutions, laying the foundation for the digital healthcare transformation roadmap in Dien Bien province and other provinces, towards a smart, efficient and people-friendly healthcare system.
