Huy Khánh participates in a film about a famous counter-espionage case.

Actor Huy Khánh attracted attention upon his return to the small screen with the role of Lê Quốc Túy in the long-running television series "Plan CM12". This project, produced by the People's Police Film Studio, explores a famous counter-intelligence case of the Vietnamese police force in the period after 1975.

In the film, Huy Khánh plays the villain Lê Quốc Túy, based on a real-life figure, the leader of a reactionary exile organization. Along with Mai Văn Hạnh, Lê Quốc Túy is behind a plot to smuggle people, weapons, and equipment from abroad into Vietnam to establish a guerrilla base in the southernmost part of the country.

This role is considered a significant challenge for Huy Khánh because the character not only requires a cold, cunning appearance but also the ability to portray the calculating, ambitious, and dangerous nature of a leading reactionary figure. To play Lê Quốc Túy, the actor had to grow a mustache and create a look close to the real person. Sharing more about this role, Huy Khánh said he was attracted by the challenging nature of the character. He had to thoroughly research historical documents, understand the context of the post-war period, and study the psychology of the real person involved in the famous case.

The CM12 plan was inspired by the operation of the same name, which was carried out over three years, from September 1981 to September 1984. The film recreates the battle of wits between the People's Public Security forces and the exiled espionage, commando, and reactionary organizations. The film's content is inspired by the memoir CM12 - Behind the Counter-Intelligence Plan by Major General Nguyen Khac Duc.

The film has two co-directors, Tran Duy Linh and Pham Trung Hieu. The screenwriters are Tran Duy Linh and Dinh Hoang Ngoc Khanh. Besides Huy Khanh, the film also features Duong Hoang Anh as Mai Van Hanh, Linh Trung as Minister of the Interior Pham Hung, along with actors Quoc Tan, Huynh Phuoc An, Ngo Thanh Ta, etc.

According to the plan, post-production will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026 and the film will be broadcast on ANTV, local stations, and OTT platforms.
