Members of Huong Xuan Cooperative, Mai Hich Commune (Mai Chau) classify medicinal herbs before preliminary processing.
The "red carpet" to welcome investors in Mai Chau is not only on paper, but also on the ground with determination. Obstacles are gradually being resolved, land is being handed over, creating conditions for projects to "set landmarks" on Mai Chau land. From 2024 to now, looking at the number of 23 projects that have been cleared with a total area of over 1.7 million m2, of which 2 projects have been completed, we can clearly feel the movement. This number is not just square meters of land, but also space for key projects, tourist areas, and production models that are about to take shape, promising to bring new livelihoods to the people.
At the same time, the urban face of Mai Chau town has also gradually changed. Urban development projects have been accelerated, gradually realizing the goal of turning Mai Chau into a type IV urban area by 2030. That is a long-term vision, but also a motivation for each citizen to be more aware of the development of their homeland.
In addition to awakening the potential from external investment sources, cooperatives in the localities have been established one after another, becoming the "nucleus" connecting farmers with businesses and markets. The linkage model of "farmers - cooperatives - businesses" is no longer just a theory, but is proving its effectiveness by reducing production costs, increasing income and expanding output for local agricultural products. In Mai Chau, mentioning the collective economy means mentioning products imbued with the national cultural soul such as: fresh organic vegetables, colorful brocade, sophisticated handicrafts... These products focus on quality, design and are closely connected with the tourism industry - Mai Chau's strength. The value of products is enhanced, creating stable jobs, bringing significant income to the people.
A typical example is Huong Xuan Cooperative in Mai Hich Commune. Ms. Ha Thi Le, Director of the Cooperative, shared about the journey of bringing products from local medicinal herbs to the market. From multi-purpose poultice powder, medicinal tea to shampoo, soap... to bringing Thanh Nganh tea products to meet 3-star OCOP standards. It is a story of creativity, of turning what is available on the homeland into products of high economic value, creating sustainable livelihoods for people living on the forest.
Comrade Ha Trung Thao, Vice Chairman of Mai Chau District People's Committee, was concerned when he recognized that the district's economic starting point was still low, and investment resources were limited. The demand for capital for infrastructure investment is very large, while mobilizing from other resources is still difficult. However, Mai Chau is focusing on investing in infrastructure, speeding up the progress of key projects. Land planning and management are being tightened to ensure synchronization in development. Small-scale industry is oriented towards sustainable development, especially the processing of agricultural, forestry products, construction materials and the restoration of traditional industries. Public investment projects are being implemented according to plan, ensuring progress and quality. These are the next solid "bricks" laying the foundation for the future of Mai Chau.
