The gala was delayed by more than 90 minutes because Tom Cruise was holding an apparently impromptu meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at Palazzo Chigi, the seat of the Italian government.
The crowd in the auditorium grew increasingly frustrated as they watched interviews from the red carpet held earlier on the "Spanish Steps" equipped with a Dolby Atmos sound system for the special occasion.

However, there was a standing ovation when Tom Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie and a large group of the film's cast including Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Shea Whigham and Greg Tarzan Davis appeared.
As soon as the scenes of Rome appeared on the screen, the audience started cheering and shouting: "Bravo Tom!". This happened quite often throughout the screenings. A significant number of scenes of the anticipated action movie were filmed in the Italian capital.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One picks up where Mission: Impossible – Fallout left off (2018), in which Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team of secret agents save the world from a nuclear apocalypse amid a series of daunting challenges. The 2018 release was the highest-grossing installment in the series, earning nearly $800 million at the global box office.
Mission: Impossible 7 also stars Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Cary Elwes, Rob Delaney, Indira Varma, Shea Whigham, Mark Gatiss, Esai Morales, Charles Parnell...
As expected, the film attracted a lot of attention from its premiere thanks to its impressive stunts. One of the most prominent death-defying acts promoted in the marketing was a scene where Tom Cruise actually drove a motorcycle off the edge of a cliff.
Actor Simon Pegg returns for Mission: Impossible 7 after appearing in the previous five installments, telling Variety that the film grew out of the relationship between Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie, which began in 2011 with Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol , for which McQuarrie served as an uncredited screenwriter.

“They develop a relationship that both stimulates and challenges each other to move the story forward, to increase the scale, to increase the ambition,” Pegg said.
Perri Nemiroff of Collider called it "a triumph for the franchise" with "sky-high" production values and "well-defined, interesting settings."
" Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One works as Christopher McQuarrie's ambitious, meditative examination of artificial intelligence and the dangerous path we might take," writes Uproxx writer Mike Ryan.
Germain Lussier of Gizmodo and io9 called the film "fantastic".
Kate Erbland, executive editor of Indiewire commented " Mission: Impossible 7 does its best to feel like a complete film while setting up the next half".
Erik Davis of Fandango called it "a flawlessly executed and endlessly entertaining action movie".
Part 7 of Mission: Impossible will be released by Paramount on July 12.
