Global tablet shipments rose 8.5 percent year-on-year in the first quarter to 36.8 million units, according to market research firm Canalys .

According to experts, the industry-wide growth is driven by the product refresh cycle of users. At the same time, demand from theeducation customer group is also constantly increasing.
“Chinese government consumer subsidies, combined with various Lunar New Year promotions, fueled double-digit growth in the tablet industry in the first quarter.
“Apple continues to maintain its leadership in the industry, but rivals such as Huawei and Xiaomi are also leveraging their diverse tablet portfolio and comprehensive IoT ecosystem to attract users,” said Himani Mukka, research director at Canalys .
Looking at the first quarter, Apple continued to dominate the global tablet market with a 14% year-over-year growth. The company shipped 13.7 million devices, equivalent to 35.5% of the tablet market share.
Samsung ranked second with 18% of the global tablet market share. The number of tablets shipped by the South Korean tech giant reached 6.6 million devices, down 5.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

In third place is Xiaomi with more than 3 million devices shipped, accounting for 8.3% of the global tablet market share in the first quarter. Notably, Xiaomi is the company with the highest growth rate when the number of devices shipped increased by 56.1% compared to the same period last year.
The next positions belong to Lenovo (6.9% market share) and Huawei (6.5% market share) respectively.
“Since early 2025, many users have upgraded their older devices to newer models. However, this growth will not last. The tablet market will see slower growth, but demand for the premium segment will remain strong,” said Kieren Jessop, research director at Canalys .
