Once the iPhone 16 series reaches users, the testing process of various features and components of the new iPhone also begins. One of the important tests conducted for the iPhone 16 Pro Max is the camera.
According to the review site DxOMark , the iPhone 16 Pro Max achieved a total of 157 points, putting it in fourth place on the list of smartphones priced over $800, equipped with quality cameras.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max lags behind in terms of photography, behind the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra (163), Google Pixel 9 Pro XL (158), and Honor Magic6 Pro (158).
However, when it comes to video recording capabilities, Apple's top-of-the-line smartphone scored the highest (159 points), and was rated as excellent with consistent exposure and color accuracy across a wide range of conditions; lowest noise even when shooting in low light; highest image stabilization.
In addition to the overall video quality being at the top of the segment, the iPhone 16 Pro Max was also praised for its color reproduction, bright and vivid color range, and image color adjustment options; rich editing options; "extremely accurate" image preview capabilities and lag-free shooting time were also highly appreciated.
The only negative in our testing concerns the zoom function, which uses a Tetraprism lens system to increase magnification. Results showed some inconsistency between the 2x and 5x zoom ranges, with images “losing some detail.”
The results from DxOMark continue to maintain the high rankings that Apple's camera systems often receive for their new mobile devices. In 2023, the iPhone 15 Pro Max had the second best camera system in the world , with a score of 154.
