Sources close to the supply chain said that both Largan Precision and Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO) are currently selected as partners to supply optical equipment for Apple's Tetraprism periscope lens.

Largan Precision, the Taiwan-based company that supplies periscope lenses for the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max, is expected to receive the bulk of the orders.

Largan President Adam Lin recently said that the optical components sector is expected to see peak sales between September and November 2024, a period that aligns with the expected release of the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ models.

GSEO, a new entrant into this component supply chain, is reportedly undergoing product quality testing with promising results.

DigiTimes said that GSEO's periscope lens is expected to begin production from mid-July if it passes the necessary tests.

The quad-prism periscope lens introduced on the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max offers up to 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom. By comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro only supports 3x optical zoom and 15x digital zoom.

In addition to the upgrades to optical zoom capabilities, the periscope camera is also expected to improve overall image stabilization and low-light performance.

The iPhone 16 series is expected to be launched by Apple next September. Notably, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max versions will have strong upgrades in screen, camera, battery life, support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Advance connectivity, a graphene cooling system and a series of new AI features...
