According to DigiTimes , Apple will equip the iPhone 16 Pro with a quad-prism periscope camera this year, instead of being exclusive to the iPhone Pro Max model like its predecessor.

Sources close to the supply chain indicate that both Largan Precision and Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO) are currently being considered as optical equipment suppliers for Apple's Tetraprism periscope lens.
Largan Precision, the Taiwan-based company that supplies periscope lenses for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, is expected to receive the majority of orders.
Largan's chairman, Adam Lin, recently stated that the optical components sector is expected to peak in sales between September and November 2024, a period that aligns with the anticipated release of the iPhone 16 Pro models.
GSEO, a new entrant into this ingredient supply chain, is reportedly undergoing product quality testing with promising results.
According to DigiTimes , GSEO's periscope lens is expected to begin production in mid-July if it passes the necessary tests.
The quad-prism periscope lens introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro Max offers up to 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom. For comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro only supports 3x optical zoom and 15x digital zoom.
In addition to upgrades in optical zoom capabilities, the periscope camera is also expected to improve overall image stabilization and performance in low-light conditions.
The iPhone 16 series is expected to be unveiled by Apple in September. Notably, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature significant upgrades to the display, camera, battery life, Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Advance connectivity, a graphene-based cooling system, and a host of new AI features.
