From a less anticipated version, the silver iPhone 17 Pro Max has gradually become a sought-after "item" instead of the cosmic orange color of this year's product line.

Launched in the Vietnamese market in mid-September at the same time as the US, Singapore and many other Tier 1 markets, the iPhone 17 series has not cooled down after more than a month in the hands of users. In particular, the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Pro duo are constantly out of stock. At first, the cosmic orange color (this year's new color) was sought after by users, causing the price to increase by millions of VND compared to the official listing. This situation forced some Vietnamese people to pay more if they wanted to own a genuine device on the first day of launch, similar to the time when the hand-carried iPhone business was still popular.

But after nearly a month, the market and supply have gradually stabilized, witnessing a change in the color choices of the iPhone 17 Pro duo of Vietnamese people. Especially after the incident of the orange device automatically changing to pink after a period of use, the "feverish" version of this year has begun to lose its appeal. Instead, many people tend to buy the silver color because it does not have color problems, and it is also harder to notice scratches during use.

In the market, the cosmic orange iPhone 17 Pro Max has begun to adjust its price, with a difference of only a few hundred thousand VND compared to the listed price (due to the ongoing shortage). Up to now, the price of the cosmic orange model ranges from 38.5 million VND for the standard version (256 GB), while the listed price is 37.99 million VND but is not available, buyers must pre-order and the specific delivery time is unknown.

In contrast, the price of the silver iPhone 17 Pro Max has increased significantly. Those who want to own it right away may have to spend more than 40 million VND to get the device, becoming the most expensive color version currently. At the same time, there has been no significant change in the blue color - a version that is rarely chosen and is often available, even at AARs (Apple authorized dealers).

Talking to Thanh Nien , Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, representative of the CellphoneS system, said that this year's iPhone 17 series, especially the regular version and the Air version, recorded many positive signals. "Sales increased about 30% compared to the same period and demand is still high. Up to now, we continue to receive deposits even though the expected delivery date is the end of November," Mr. Huy said. For customers of the following batches, they may have to wait until December to receive the returned goods.

"The silver iPhone 17 Pro Max, purple and green iPhone 17 are popular and sought after by many people," Mr. Huy affirmed.

A representative of another system also confirmed that the sales of the iPhone launched in September this year are showing many positive signs. Unlike every year, when users initially focused on the Pro and Pro Max versions, in 2025, the iPhone 17 version was also "sold out on deposit from the first day", this person shared. However, the representative also said that the shortage of goods occurred because demand was still high but supply was limited. According to his calculations, if the quantity of goods was met, the number of devices reaching users could have doubled compared to the same period.

Ms. Van Thi Ngoc Yen - Apple Product Line Director at Mobile World agrees that this year's iPhone has received significantly higher interest and purchasing power. "Total sales of the entire new iPhone category in the system increased by more than 50% compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting the early season momentum and the trend of users upgrading early," said Ms. Ngoc Yen.

According to Ms. Yen, the current supply has not yet fully met the demand, so the selection ratio is still affected by the actual allocation. In particular, many customers accept to change the color or capacity to receive the device early, but in general, the 256 GB version is still the most popular among all models. The system representative said: "From now until the end of the year, the expected quantity of goods will be enough, but the allocation near Tet still depends on the goods plan from the company, so it cannot be certain."
