From a less anticipated version, the silver iPhone 17 Pro Max has gradually become a sought-after item, replacing the space orange color of this year's product line.

Launched in Vietnam in mid-September, simultaneously with the US, Singapore, and many other Tier 1 markets, the iPhone 17 series remains highly sought after more than a month after reaching consumers. In particular, the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Pro models have consistently been in short supply. Initially, the Space Orange color (this year's new color) was so popular that its price skyrocketed by millions of Vietnamese dong compared to the official retail price. This situation forced some Vietnamese consumers to pay more to own an official device on the launch day, similar to the period when the grey market for imported iPhones was prevalent.

However, after nearly a month, as the market and supply gradually stabilized, there was a shift in the color choices of the iPhone 17 Pro among Vietnamese consumers. Especially after the incident where the orange version automatically changed to pink after a period of use, this year's once-popular version began to lose its appeal. Instead, many people tended to buy the silver version because it didn't have color issues and scratches were less noticeable during use.

On the market, the price of the Space Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max has started to adjust, now differing by only a few hundred thousand dong from the listed price (due to continued shortages). Currently, the price of the Space Orange model ranges from 38.5 million dong for the standard version (256 GB), while the listed price is 37.99 million dong, but it is not readily available; buyers must pre-order, and the specific delivery time is still unclear.

Conversely, the price of the silver iPhone 17 Pro Max has increased significantly. Those wishing to own one immediately may have to spend over 40 million VND, making it the most expensive color option currently available. At the same time, there has been no significant price fluctuation for the green version – a less popular choice and usually readily available, even at AARs (Apple Authorized Dealers).

The iPhone 17 series has received many positive reviews.

Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper , Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, a representative of the CellphoneS system, said that this year's iPhone 17 series, especially the regular and Air versions, has received many positive signals. "Sales have increased by about 30% compared to the same period last year, and demand remains high. To date, we are still receiving pre-orders even though the expected delivery date is the end of November," Mr. Huy said. Customers in later batches may have to wait until December to receive their orders.

"The silver iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the purple and green iPhone 17s are currently very popular and sought after," Huy affirmed.

A representative from another retailer also confirmed that sales of iPhones launched in September this year are showing many positive signs. Unlike previous years, when users initially focused on the Pro and Pro Max versions, in 2025, even the regular iPhone 17 was "sold out on the first day of pre-orders," the representative shared. However, the representative also stated that the shortage is due to high demand but limited supply. According to his calculations, if the supply were sufficient, the number of devices reaching consumers could have doubled compared to the same period last year.

Ms. Van Thi Ngoc Yen, Director of the Apple Product Line at Di Dong Viet, agrees that this year's iPhones have received significantly higher levels of interest and demand. "Total sales across the entire range of new iPhones in our system have increased by over 50% compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting the strong early-season momentum and the trend of users upgrading their devices early," Ms. Ngoc Yen stated.

According to Ms. Yen, the current supply hasn't fully caught up with demand, so the selection ratio is still influenced by the actual distribution. Many customers are willing to change the color or storage capacity to receive their devices sooner, but overall, the 256GB version remains the most popular among all models. A representative from the system stated: "From now until the end of the year, the supply is expected to be sufficient, but the distribution during the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) still depends on the manufacturer's inventory plan, so we cannot be certain yet."
