According to information from Iran, ships wishing to pass through the Strait of Hormuz can submit registration applications through an electronic system established by the country's maritime authority. After review and approval, the ships will be granted permission to navigate this strategic waterway.
This move comes as the Strait of Hormuz – a vital energy shipping lane connecting the Persian Gulf with the Arabian Sea – has been significantly impacted by recent regional security tensions. Iran's opening of the document processing system is seen as a signal that maritime activity in the region is gradually being restored under the new management mechanism.
Iran's latest announcement comes after Tehran signaled its readiness to resume commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz under a centralized licensing and control mechanism, amid close monitoring of the security situation in the region by the international shipping community.
Meanwhile, on June 3, the Trump administration imposed sanctions on Iran's largest cryptocurrency exchange, as part of a campaign to increase pressure on Tehran.

The sanctions were announced amid ongoing diplomatic efforts between the two sides that have yet to reach an agreement to end the US-Iran conflict. The targets include the cryptocurrency exchange Nobitex, its CEO and three co-founders, along with three other Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges.
According to the U.S. Treasury Department , Nobitex “facilitated payments related to Iranian activities, efforts to circumvent sanctions, and transactions linked to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including the activities of ransomware hacking groups allegedly linked to the IRGC.”
