Israel resumes airstrikes on the Lebanese capital Beirut.

On June 1st, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Defense Minister instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to conduct airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in the Dahiyeh area, south of Beirut, Lebanon.

The security situation along the Israel-Lebanon border continues to escalate despite the ceasefire agreement announced last April.

Hezbollah forces continue to launch near-daily attacks against northern Israel and IDF units in southern Lebanon, while the Israeli army continues military operations against the group within Lebanese territory.

The United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting on June 1st to discuss the situation in Lebanon.
