(CLO) At least 50 Boko Haram militants were killed on Tuesday and seven members of the Nigerian police were missing after an ambush by militants on a convoy monitoring the country's power grid facilities.
Boko Haram, which has waged an insurgency for 15 years, mainly in northeastern Nigeria, has been weakened by military and internal strife but remains a threat, carrying out deadly attacks on civilians and government targets.

Babawale Afolabi, spokesman for the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, a state body set up to protect infrastructure, said security forces were ambushed by about 200 Boko Haram militants during a patrol mission.
Afolabi said more than 50 militants had been killed in the fighting but seven agents were missing, adding that efforts were underway to search for them in the bush. He said a “handful” of other security forces had been wounded.
