Nguyen Khac Toan, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Hue City Party Committee, and Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, recently led a city delegation to survey and inspect several tourism and service development projects and locations in the former Phu Loc district, including: Bach Ma National Park, Bac Hai Van National Park, An Cu Dong fishing village, Lang Co Square, Canh Duong, and some connecting roads.
Bach Ma National Park is one of the national parks under central government management, covering an area of over 37,423 hectares (primarily located in Hue City). The park was recently recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park at the end of 2025. It is a unique ecological space with significant value in terms of landscape, biodiversity, and a cool climate. It has favorable conditions for developing ecotourism, resorts, nature experiences, research, and environmental education .
The delegation surveyed the Bach Ma Visitor Center area, the Bach Ma summit access route, the Vong Hai Dai trail, and several potential locations for organizing sightseeing activities.

In the North Hai Van area, the survey team examined the landscape of the southern gateway to the city, an area with the advantage of connecting mountains, forests, the sea, and lagoons. Located on the Hue- Da Nang axis, near Lang Co Bay, Lap An Lagoon, Canh Duong, and Bach Ma, this area has the potential to develop into rest stops, viewpoints, nature experiences, and connect to southern tourism routes.
The delegation also surveyed An Cu Dong Fishing Village – an area with advantages in terms of coastal village culture, fishing industry, seafood cuisine, and community life. This is a space where research can be conducted to develop community tourism, visit fishing villages, experience seafood markets, learn about fishing professions, enjoy local cuisine, and organize cultural exchange activities.

At Lang Co Square, the delegation noted the potential for creating a space for organizing events, community activities, and developing the night-time economy associated with beach tourism. Meanwhile, Canh Duong area has the advantage of a wide beach and a landscape that retains many natural features, suitable for developing resort tourism, camping, beach experiences, culinary experiences, outdoor sports, and community services.
Following the survey, Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan stated that the Bach Ma - Bac Hai Van - An Cu Dong - Lang Co - Canh Duong area possesses diverse and complementary tourism resources. These advantages need to be connected into a unified, convenient, safe, and distinctive experiential chain for the southern part of the city.
This area holds a crucial position in the orientation of expanding tourism and service development towards the South, and also has the potential to form a chain of distinctive tourism products, connecting forest ecotourism, beach tourism, community tourism, resort tourism, experiential tourism, and night-time economy.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City requested that relevant departments, agencies, and localities not view each survey point in isolation, but rather consider it within the overall development space of the Bach Ma - Lang Co - Canh Duong area. Specifically, Bach Ma is a highlight for forest ecotourism and nature experiences; Bac Hai Van is a gateway landscape connecting forests, seas, and lagoons; An Cu Dong fishing village has the potential to develop community tourism linked to maritime culture and local livelihoods; Lang Co Square can become a public space for events and nighttime services; and Canh Duong has room for development in beach tourism, resorts, camping, water sports, and community-based tourism services.
Regarding Bach Ma National Park, the Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that tourism development must prioritize the conservation of forest ecosystems, biodiversity, and natural landscapes. Activities such as sightseeing, experiences, transportation, and service provision need to be carefully studied to ensure the safety of tourists, especially in areas at risk of landslides, steep roads, rest stops, and locations near the summit of Bach Ma.

In the North Hai Van area, the Chairman of the City People's Committee highly appreciated the idea of researching the construction of a glass bridge overlooking Lang Co Bay, combined with a check-in space, scenic views, and nature experiences. The Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the local authorities and relevant units to continue researching the planning, landscape, feasibility, and effectiveness of exploitation to create a unique tourism product.
For the Lang Co, Canh Duong areas and coastal spots, the Chairman of the City People's Committee requested relevant units to research and develop tourism products in a way that is distinctive and organized, avoiding spontaneous and fragmented development. The Chairman of the City People's Committee also agreed in principle to research and develop a "Fishing Village Museum" model linked to marine cultural space, community art, and experiential tourism in An Cu Dong Fishing Village.
“Departments, agencies, and localities need to promptly compile and fully assess the current situation, potential, difficulties, and propose specific solutions with a clear implementation roadmap. Initially, focus should be placed on upgrading and improving the quality of destinations, ensuring safety and environmental hygiene, reorganizing services, and simultaneously researching long-term tasks regarding planning, infrastructure connectivity, attracting investment, and developing distinctive tourism products for the southern part of the city,” Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan emphasized.
