Representatives of the Hue City Red Cross Society presented gifts to poor households and households with particularly difficult circumstances in An Cuu ward during the 2026 Humanitarian Month.

From "Pieces of a Loving Home"

During the heavy rains and floods at the end of 2025, the house of Mr. Tran Van Vien and Mrs. Tran Thi Chuon, residing in Xuan Phu village, Khe Tre commune, was swept away and severely damaged by floodwaters due to its proximity to a stream. Following fundraising efforts, the "Pieces of Loving Homes" program organized by the Hue City Red Cross Society provided support to build a new house, helping the couple settle down and have a warm and joyful Tet holiday in their new home.

I remember, on the chilly day of early 2026, the inauguration of the humanitarian house, Mrs. Chuon emotionally said: “Half of our old house had been swept away, and the rest was also damaged. Thanks to the local government, the Red Cross, and generous donors who cared for us and built us a new, spacious, and sturdy house, we are so happy.” The new roof not only provides shelter from the rain and sun but also instills renewed hope for Mr. Vien and Mrs. Chuon to live happily in their old age. The house was built from hundreds of “pieces” of love.

The Hue City Red Cross Society launched the "Pieces of Loving Homes" program in August 2024 to respond to the "Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" emulation movement initiated by the Prime Minister . To date, the Society has mobilized resources to build 9 charitable houses and repair 8 others. The "Pieces of Loving Homes" program has conducted surveys, and each program mobilizes 700 "pieces" (equivalent to 70 million VND) to support the construction of one house. The program has connected humanitarian "pieces," working together to build warm homes for people in difficult circumstances and households whose houses were damaged by natural disasters in the area.

to diverse humanitarian activities

Over the past year, the Hue City Red Cross Society has proactively and effectively implemented humanitarian activities in various flexible forms. Notable examples include the movement to build charitable houses and the campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian cause," supporting 1,151 addresses with over 1.1 billion VND. During the 2025 Humanitarian Month, themed "Humanitarian Journey - Giving and Receiving Love," the Society mobilized 3.5 billion VND to support 9,130 needy people. Simultaneously, it received emergency international aid, supporting 215 households in Dan Dien and Quang Dien communes affected by natural disasters, with a total budget of 645 million VND.

As spring arrives and Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches, many large-scale humanitarian programs are implemented in Hue. In 2026, a notable program was the "Zero-Cost Tet Market" initiative, supporting 1,000 people with a total budget of 1 billion VND. In addition, the "Compassionate Tet" program, sponsored by Heineken Brewery, provided 240 million VND to disadvantaged households; the "Spring Border Guard Program: Warming the Hearts of Villagers" distributed 500 gift packages, each worth approximately 600,000 VND; and the Thien Tam Fund of Vingroup Corporation donated 1,000 gift packages, each worth 600,000 VND, to people in difficult circumstances.

Ms. Le Thi Hien, President of the Hue City Red Cross Society, affirmed that, as a humanitarian social organization, the Society has promoted the dissemination of information and mobilized officials, members, volunteers, and all segments of the population to actively participate in humanitarian activities. At the same time, the Society has promptly organized relief efforts for those affected by natural disasters and calamities, helping many poor families improve their lives and stabilize their livelihoods. The Society's movements have spread widely, creating a positive impact on the community and contributing to the effective implementation of social welfare policies in the locality.

Beyond providing immediate assistance, the Association's humanitarian activities aim for sustainability, helping people gradually stabilize their lives in the long term. Through thorough surveys of each household's circumstances, support programs are increasingly practical, targeted, and avoid being spread too thinly. Many families, after receiving assistance, have proactively strived to improve their lives, actively working and improving their livelihoods. This change has contributed to increasing the value of humanitarian activities and creating a positive ripple effect in the community.
