Published by the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29), the UNECE R155 and R156 regulations set out software update and cybersecurity requirements to enhance the safety and security of automotive systems. Keysight appointed as technical service provider for regulatory assessment of automotive software and cybersecurity
UN R156 specifies software update requirements for vehicle manufacturers and applies only to specific vehicles in the post-production phase, excluding the development and production phases.
Once approved, Riscure Security Solutions can carry out vehicle conformity certification according to UNECE WP.29, which is required for all new vehicles manufactured from July 2024 for all UNECE countries. RWD certifies compliance with UN R155 and UN R156 regulations for vehicles in all 27 EU countries and 37 countries worldwide, including Australia, Japan, Korea and the UK.
With the Riscure Security Solutions lab, Keysight continues to expand its support for manufacturers and the entire automotive supply chain, providing comprehensive solutions to evaluate safety, security, performance and compliance throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
“When assessing the potential security vulnerabilities of a component or system, we consider current threats and capabilities of attackers, as well as the types of attacks that may occur in the future,” said Marc Witteman, director of the Device Security Research Lab at Keysight. “The automotive industry needs to be prepared for future threats, as the average lifecycle of a component is often measured in decades. RDW approval is an important milestone for Keysight, solidifying our position as a trusted partner in ensuring vehicle safety, security and regulatory compliance.”
