In order to gradually improve customer service quality, implement digital transformation, and facilitate convenient monitoring and tracking of monthly electricity meter readings for customers, Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI) will shift the meter reading date to the last day of the month for more than 2.8 million electricity customers throughout the capital city.
According to Nguyen Dinh Thang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, the Department has issued a directive to standardize the changes to electricity meter readings by EVNHANOI across the city. He stated that this is a necessary measure to ensure consistency in management, minimize errors in meter reading and billing, and guarantee fairness for all electricity customers. "This is a pre-existing policy, and the Corporation has reported to relevant authorities for coordinated implementation and public awareness campaigns," the Deputy Director clarified.
Below is a specific case: a customer in an area where meter readings were done on the 3rd of each month, but from February 2024 onwards, the meter readings were changed to the last day of the month, the billing period will be calculated as follows:

Addressing consumer concerns about how increased electricity consumption during the new period might affect customer rights when calculating electricity prices according to the tiered system, EVNHANOI commits that customer rights will always be protected because the electricity consumption level for each tier is adjusted according to the actual number of days in the meter reading period of the month when the consumption changes.
