Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation and Head of the training course's organizing committee, emphasized the key role of refereeing in the overall development and success of professional football.
Therefore, immediately after the 2024/25 season ended, the VFF Executive Board and VPF Company quickly started preparing for the new season, focusing on many important items, including the training program for supervisors and referees - people who play a key role in managing and ensuring fairness for matches.
“Through this training program, supervisors and referees need to continue to improve their knowledge, enhance their situational handling skills and strengthen their professional qualities.
This will be an important asset for the entire team to successfully complete their tasks in the 2025/26 season. The Vietnam Football Federation, the referee board and VPF Company will always accompany and support Vietnamese referees to become more professional, impartial and steady on the field," General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu affirmed.
Notably, according to Mr. Dang Thanh Ha, Head of the Vietnam Football Federation Referee Committee, this year's training program has been adjusted in terms of organization. Instead of being divided into two sessions according to the North - South regions as in previous years, the first training session focuses on referees and supervisors assigned to work at the V.League and VAR refereeing.
The second training session will be for the forces participating in the first division and the National Cup.
Within the framework of the opening ceremony, the Vietnam Football Federation and VPF Company held a ceremony to pay tribute and say goodbye to 5 referees and assistant referees who retired from duty according to FIFA's age regulations, including: National Championship referee Nguyen Manh Hai, National Championship assistant referee Truong Duc Chien, Hoang Thanh Binh, Ngo Quoc Toan and Tran Van Hai.
Assistant referees Truong Duc Chien and Tran Van Hai will continue to serve until the end of the 2025/26 season. The leaders of the VFF and VPF acknowledge the important contributions of these referees to the development of Vietnamese football, and hope that they will continue to accompany them in new roles in the future.
The 2025/26 season referee and supervisor training program will take place from August 2 to 7. The training content focuses on updating the Laws of the Game, new FIFA guidelines, professional situation analysis, referee team coordination and VAR operations... to improve the awareness, skills and decision-making ability of referees in the modern football environment.
According to plan, tomorrow morning, August 3, the referees will undergo a physical fitness test - a mandatory condition to be assigned to work in the new season.
With careful preparation and dedication from the organizing committee and the entire supervisory and refereeing force, the supervisory and refereeing training program for the 2025/26 season promises to contribute to improving the quality of management work, ensuring fairness and transparency in each match.
This is also an important step for Vietnamese professional football to continue to develop strongly, meeting the increasingly high demands of modern football.
