The Ministry of Education and Training has recently sent a request to provincial Departments of Education and Training for feedback on revising the curricula of several subjects. These revisions aim to meet the requirements of reorganizing provincial-level administrative units and implementing a two-tiered local government system.

The Ministry of Education and Training plans to revise the curriculum for four subjects due to the merger of provinces and the implementation of a two-tiered local government system.

Some of the proposed revisions in the following subjects are as follows: For Civic Education, the curriculum for grade 10 will be revised and supplemented in the topics of the political system of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
For history: revise and supplement the elective study topic in grade 10: "The State and Law of Vietnam in History".
For the geography sub-discipline within the history and geography subject: revisions and additions to the curriculum in grades 4, 5, 8, and 9, and the geography subject in grade 12. The revisions mainly focus on socio -economic regions, such as regional boundaries; names and number of provinces and cities, area size, and population of the region; economic development resources and the development and distribution of economic sectors in socio-economic regions; administrative maps; population maps; and maps of economic sectors and regions in Vietnam.
For the history sub-discipline within the history and geography curriculum, revisions and additions in grade 7 include periodization based on European history; and in grade 9, periodization of Vietnam's reform process from 1986 to the present.
The issuance of the Circular amending and supplementing the 2018 General Education Program by the Minister of Education and Training ensures that the general education program is updated with content appropriate to the changes, and guarantees the scientific and practical relevance of social science subjects in the general education program.
The issuance of the circular amending and supplementing the general education curriculum provides the legal basis for considering revisions to textbooks to better suit the current reality.
