Opening of the National 7-a-side Football Cup - Southern region

(NLDO) - Winning 2-0 over Nam Dong Cafe, Hoang Nong FC had a smooth start in the 2025 Hyundai Thanh Cong Cup National 7-a-side Football Cup in the Southern region.

On the afternoon of October 11, at Gia Dinh Stadium (HCMC), the Hyundai Thanh Cong Cup 2025 National 7-a-side Football Cup officially kicked off. The Southern region is the opening place for this year's season, before the qualifying round takes place in the North and Central regions, with the participation of 16 clubs.

On the opening day, the highlight was the match between Saigon Premier League (SPL - S7) defending champion Hoang Nong FC and Nam Dong Cafe.

Despite many changes in personnel, coach Nguyen Van Cap and his team still showed their champion class when they took the initiative throughout the match. After a deadlocked first half, Duc Linh opened the score in the 37th minute, before Gia Huy sealed the 2-0 victory in the final minute of extra time.

In other matches, Thep Viet Thang beat ICORN 6-2 thanks to a hat-trick from striker Van Duy. Kady - Sports Wholesale created a big surprise when they defeated the national runner-up XSKT Dak Lak 4-3. An Bien FC, two-time SPL champions, also had a strong start with a 3-0 victory over STPFood FC.

Nghiem Pham Holdings beat Phuc Khang FC 5-1, while the match between Phan Kha Construction and Betong26 Gia Lai ended in a 3-3 draw.

The final matches of round 1 are matches in group A. SPL-S7 runner-up MyMy FC had a favorable start with a 3-1 victory over Lam Dong representative Hong Lac FC.

Meanwhile, Bamboo FC had a resounding 6-1 victory over rookies Sunsea FC.
