Speaking at the opening ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen - Deputy Minister of Public Security said that the 9th "For National Security" Sports Congress and the 6th Public Security Command, Military and Martial Arts Competition were organized by the Ministry of Public Security to widely propagate and educate officers, soldiers and people about the glorious tradition of 80 years of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and 20 years of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025).
At the same time, we commend the force, promote the emulation movement "For the security of the Fatherland"; encourage officers and soldiers to actively study and practice to improve their political qualities and sense of responsibility, contributing to building a truly clean, strong, disciplined, elite and modern public security force.
The Deputy Minister of Public Security also affirmed that after 80 years of building, fighting and growing, the People's Public Security force has always been loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the people, always affirming its role as a steel shield and a sharp sword protecting the Party, the State and the people.
Throughout that glorious journey, the Vietnam People's Public Security has continuously promoted its heroic, intelligent, brave, united, and proactive traditions, always being creative with high determination and great efforts, overcoming all difficulties and hardships to excellently complete assigned tasks.
Through practical combat work, there have been many examples of dedicated, intelligent, brave police officers and soldiers who fought and sacrificed themselves to protect national security, fight against crime for a peaceful life and for the happiness of the people.
“Especially, in the face of the new task requirements, each officer and soldier must constantly innovate their thinking, improve the quality of their professional work capacity, and at the same time strengthen their health, courage, discipline, and order to build police officers and soldiers who are physically strong, steadfast in courage, good at their profession, close to the people, understand the people, closely attached to the people, and serve the people,” Senior Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen said.
In recent years, the Ministry of Public Security has paid much attention and directed the improvement of physical education and sports activities, the implementation of regulations, and the tightening of discipline and order. Thanks to that, the physical education and sports movement in the People's Public Security Forces has developed strongly and achieved many important results.
The Health Congress and Competition is an annual activity held every 5 years to demonstrate the strength, bravery and fighting spirit of officers and soldiers. It is an opportunity to comprehensively inspect and evaluate the quality of physical education and sports activities and military martial arts regulations in the entire People's Public Security force.
This Health Congress and Competition will be held from August 2024 to August 2025 in many localities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Lam Dong and Phu Tho. The opening ceremony will be held on the evening of July 26 and the closing ceremony will be held on August 1.
Participants in the Fitness Congress include officers, non-commissioned officers, students of the People's Public Security schools (except for civilian systems), police workers, contract workers receiving salaries from the State budget and individual members of the Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Association. The competition is for officers, non-commissioned officers, conscripts and students of the People's Public Security schools.
This year's Health Congress organized 115 events in 10 sports, including: 8 running events, 22 swimming events, 10 Healthy Police Soldier events, 4 professional sports events for firefighting and rescue, 7-a-side men's football, men's volleyball, 15 badminton events, 18 table tennis events, 12 tennis events and 24 chess events. The competition included 18 events in 3 subjects: 4 police regulations events (including theory and practice), 4 martial arts events and 10 military events.
