Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Engineering Corps Sports Festival

Attending the opening ceremony were: Major General Tran Trung Hoa, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Commander of the Engineering Corps; Major General Dinh Ngoc Tuong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Engineering Corps; and Major General Ta Quang Thao, Deputy Director of the Military Training Department, General Staff.

The sports competition brought together 11 teams from 6 brigades, 2 schools, the Technical Department, the Center for Bomb and Mine Disposal Technology, and Battalion 93 - General Staff. The athletes competed in 4 military sports and 2 Olympic sports, including: "Healthy Soldier" competition, armed swimming, obstacle course training, four combined military sports events, football, and volleyball.

In his opening remarks at the Sports Festival, Major General Tran Trung Hoa, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Commander of the Engineering Corps, affirmed that, despite having to simultaneously carry out many tasks, the agencies and units throughout the Corps have thoroughly understood and strictly implemented the directive and plan for organizing the Sports Festival; actively prepared and organized the grassroots-level Sports Festival, selected athletes, and organized training to participate in the Corps-level Sports Festival. The Sports Festival aims to evaluate the results of physical training and sports activities of the agencies and units within the Corps; and at the same time, through the Sports Festival, select outstanding coaches and athletes to prepare for the 2023 All-Army Football and Volleyball Sports Festival.

To ensure the 2023 Engineering Corps Sports Festival proceeds as planned and achieves its objectives, Major General Tran Trung Hoa requested that participating athletes strictly adhere to military discipline, competition regulations and rules, and the organizing committee's regulations; actively study, exchange, and learn from experience regarding the organization and management of the competition; the referees must evaluate results promptly, accurately, objectively, fairly, and honestly; and all officers and soldiers in the Engineering Corps should strive to improve their physical fitness, further spreading the spirit of physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh, meeting the requirement of "Being healthy to build and defend the Fatherland," and successfully completing assigned tasks…
