Opening of the 10th Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival in 2025

Dien Bien TV - On the evening of January 3, thousands of people and tourists were present at the Mechanical Boat Wharf, Na Lay Ward to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 10th Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival, the 5th National Paragliding Club Championship, and the 1st Jet Skiing in 2025 organized by the People's Committee of Muong Lay Town. Attending the program were Comrade Giang Thi Hoa, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Comrade Pham Duc Toan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Comrade Lo Van Mung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee; Comrade Chu Xuan Truong, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee; leaders of departments, branches and sectors of the province.

Delegates presented flags to the athlete delegations participating in the 10th Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival, the 5th National Paragliding Club Championship, and the 1st Jet Skiing.

Restored since 2015, the Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival has become an outstanding cultural and sporting event held annually on the occasion of Tet, contributing to promoting the image, land, people, honoring the cultural identity of the ethnic people of Muong Lay town, and at the same time becoming an important highlight in the tourism promotion activities of the locality in particular, and Dien Bien province in general. In 2025, the quality of activities within the framework of the festival continues to be focused on development. In particular, the large-scale jet-ski competition was held for the first time within the framework of the festival.

Mr. Hoang Van Quyen, Chairman of Muong Lay Town People's Committee said: "In addition to traditional products such as swallow-tail boat racing, paragliding club championships and ethnic folk games, we are organizing a jet-skiing competition for the first time, this is the first large-scale competition held in Vietnam. We also hope that through this adventure sports competition, it will also be one of the unique tourism features to attract tourists to Muong Lay Town."

Art program with the theme "Echoing the river forever".

During the opening ceremony, the art program with the theme "Forever Echoing River" performed by the mass art troupes, artisans, and people in Muong Lay town took the audience through many emotional levels, with a musical space imbued with the traditional identity of the ethnic groups of Dien Bien province; blending with the bustling melody of contemporary life, full of vitality, welcoming the festival and the new year 2025. Along with that was a paragliding performance with electric fireworks and smoke cannons flying over the main stage and the venue, creating surprises and impressions for the people and visitors.

Right after the art program, the delegates, the mass art troupes, the people and tourists held hands in a solidarity circle.

The successful opening ceremony opened the door for a series of cultural, artistic and sports activities within the framework of the festival taking place from January 3-5, 2025, promising to bring a unique festival atmosphere unique to the locality.
