On the afternoon of November 23rd, the opening ceremony of the art exhibition "Rural Colors 2" by artist Quynh Thom, a member of the Vinh Phuc Literature and Arts Association, took place at Exhibition House No. 16 Ngo Quyen Street, Hoan Kiem District (Hanoi).
Ms. Mai Thi Ngoc Oanh, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, presented the Commemorative Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Fine Arts to artist Quynh Thom.
The 69 artworks on display by artist Quynh Thom revolve around the theme of peaceful and tranquil rural life, featuring simple thatched houses, lush green bamboo groves, and flooded rice paddies… Along with that are portraits of genuine, kind, and warm-hearted people from the countryside.
Each artwork not only conveys the love and pride of a son for his hometown of Vinh Phuc in particular, and for his homeland and country in general, but also expresses his concern and regret over the gradual erosion of traditional values due to the current pace of urbanization. Through this, it conveys the message that each of us should live responsibly towards our homeland, towards what nature has bestowed upon us, and towards life itself.
Whether sketching, portraiting, or landscapes, Quynh Thom is highly successful with ink and acrylic paints. This choice makes his works softer, more fluid, and captures the essence of the countryside in every shape and color. All of this contributes to Quynh Thom's distinctive artistic style.
Previously, the exhibition "Rural Colors and Sketches," featuring 168 works, held in Hanoi at the end of May by artist Quynh Thom, was also praised by experts as a "mature" exhibition, demonstrating his investment of time, effort, and dedication. This exhibition marks the return of artist Quynh Thom, signifying the blossoming of a self passionate about painting. The simple, rustic spirit in Quynh Thom's paintings evokes childhood memories in viewers and has won the hearts of many art enthusiasts.
Also on this occasion, artist Quynh Thom was awarded a commemorative medal by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association for her contributions to Vietnamese fine arts.
The art exhibition "Rural Colors 2" will take place from November 23rd to December 2nd, 2024.
