On the afternoon of February 12 (the 3rd day of Tet) , the Ministry of Health has just provided information on the situation of medical examination and treatment organization from February 8, 2024 to February 11, 2024 (ie from December 29, Quy Mao year to January 2, Giap Thin year).
According to data compiled from reports of medical examination and treatment facilities under the Ministry of Health , 63 Departments of Health of provinces, cities and health sectors nationwide during the 3 days of Tet Giap Thin 2024), on the regular basis to ensure emergency care and medical examination and treatment for people: The total number of patients being treated after 3 days of Tet is 109,840 people, an increase of 14.7% compared to the same period of Tet Quy Mao 2023.
There were a total of 9,920 medical examinations and emergency care cases due to traffic accidents, down 14.4% compared to the same period of the Lunar New Year.
The total number of patients coming for examination and emergency care was 151,268 people, an increase of 4.5% over the same period of Tet Quy Mao 2023.
Total number of inpatients: 61,389 people, up 1.0% over the same period of Tet Quy Mao 2023.
Total number of surgeries of all types: 7,291 emergency surgeries, an increase of 3.3% over the same period of Tet Quy Mao 2023; of which the number of emergency surgeries was 1,908, an increase of 11% over 2023. Total number of successful deliveries and cesarean sections: 7,680, an increase of 9.6% over the same period of Tet Quy Mao 2023. Total number of discharged patients was 73,092 patients, an increase of 8.2% over the same period of Tet Quy Mao 2023.
Regarding the situation of emergency examinations for suspected traffic-related accidents, in the 3 days from December 29 to the 2nd day of Tet, there were a total of 9,920 examinations and emergency treatment cases due to traffic accidents, a decrease of 14.4% compared to the same period of Tet Quy Mao 2023. The number of examinations and emergency treatment cases for traffic accidents accounted for 6.6% of the total number of examinations and emergency treatment cases.
Number of hospitalizations: 4,787 cases (accounting for 48.3% of total cases), an increase of 9.6% compared to Tet Quy Mao 2023. There were 67 deaths due to traffic accidents, a decrease of 17 cases (20.2%) compared to Tet Quy Mao 2023.
Regarding accidents caused by firecrackers and explosives, there were 453 cases of examination and emergency treatment due to firecrackers of all kinds, 129 more cases than the same period of the Lunar New Year 2023, with no deaths. There were 55 emergency cases of accidents caused by homemade weapons and explosives, 24 cases had to be hospitalized for treatment and monitoring.

According to the Ministry of Health, all medical examination and treatment facilities must strictly implement the Ministry of Health's direction on strengthening medical examination and treatment during the 2024 Lunar New Year, ensuring emergency care for the people.
Traffic-related accidents have decreased sharply in both the number of examinations, the number of serious cases transferred to higher facilities, and the number of deaths. Accidents caused by firecrackers have increased compared to Tet Quy Mao 2023.
Regarding food poisoning, according to information from the national food safety system and the media, from February 8, 2024 to February 11, 2024, no food poisoning cases have been recorded nationwide.
The work of preventing and combating food poisoning and ensuring food safety during the 2024 Lunar New Year has been proactively and seriously implemented by the entire health sector, localities and authorities, contributing to controlling the food safety situation, especially food poisoning cases and the risk of food contamination for the community.
The Ministry of Health continues to direct localities to monitor, grasp information and handle promptly in case of food poisoning.
Regarding the supply of medicine for medical examination and treatment, the Ministry of Health has directed relevant units to develop plans and implement drug procurement; manage prices; check quality, and provide public information, while coordinating with inspection agencies to ensure the implementation of regulations related to drugs to ensure the supply of drugs for disease prevention and control and the need for drugs during the New Year and Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024.
Since the beginning of the Lunar New Year holiday, the Ministry of Health has not received any information or reports about drug shortages or drug price increases nationwide .
